Good point on abasentee ballot.

Only Dems commit voter fraud?

This is tantamount to saying I don't have any food so it is your fault. I am going to sue this state because I can't afford food or can't afford to pay my light bill. The dems need fraudulent votes to stay in office. Ask anyone that does taxes, or food stamps or welfare how quick these people get their id's to get benefits. They need to check to see if this woman is on social security. If she is she has an id that will help her get a photo id paid for by the state. The dems are so sick.

The ACLU is funded by George Soros. Coincidentally, ACORN was found guilty of voter fraud in Missouri. The Democrats were guilty of using fake voters in Indiana to get Obama on the primary ballot.

Obama has also been turning a blind eye to immigration. Federation for American Immigration Reform spokesman Bob Dane said the federal government under Obama has de-emphasized immigration enforcement in non-border areas.

Given the potential for fraud, I would think everyone would want voter ID.

Good thing I choose to vote absentee. Either way I wouldn't be bothered presenting an ID

The ACLU, Laura Murphy's statements referencing the "Jim Crow Laws" have no bearing regarding the responsibility of having photo identification in order to vote.

Why?

All of the Jim Crow Laws were overruled by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Having a bona-fide photo I.D. is absolutely essential in today's modern world as the reasons why are ENDLESS!

The comment by Michelle of IN, below, is the perfect example!

Today, voter fraud truly is rampant in this country.

An article in the Wall Street Jounal, printed May 9, 2009, states:

"On Monday, Nevada officials charged Acorn, its regional director and its Las Vegas field director with submitting thousands of fraudulent voter registration forms last year. Larry Lomax, the registrar of voters in Las Vegas, says he believes 48% of Acorn's forms 'are clearly fraudulent.' On Thursday, prosecutors in Pittsburgh, Pa., also charged seven Acorn employees with filing hundreds of fraudulent voter registrations before last year's general election."

"Elsewhere, Washington state prosecutors fined Acorn $25,000 after several employees were convicted of voter registration fraud in 2007. The group signed a consent decree with King County (Seattle), requiring it to beef up its oversight or face criminal prosecution. In the 2008 election, Acorn's practices led to investigations, some ongoing, in 14 other states."

....and this is only involving "Acorn"!

Other very strong hints can be taken from the comments of Harry Reasoner, also below.

The ACLU is only using some form of propagandized talking point in an effort to continue their approval of "voter fraud", pure and simple!

Please write, as I have, a note to John Boehner, Speaker of the House, to insist laws be passed requiring photo identification to vote in our national elections: http://www.speaker.gov/Contact/

Thanks everyone : )

So the 84 year old woman must be independently wealthy and doesn't collect social security or use medicare? I know that whenever I go to the bank or the doctor, I must show my ID. It is inconceivable and difficult to believe that she has made it to 84 years without ever having to show an identification. The ACLU would better spend it's resources helping this poor soul navigate life in the 21st century.

Voter fraud is a massive problem in this country....

A hundred years ago, the average life expectancy in the United States was 47 years. In 2009, the federal government recently announced that it is 78 years. And, now, in an age when NASA has machines roving Mars, many states are extending the voting life of citizens for years after they are medically pronounced dead. There are 116,000 dead eligible voters in Massachusetts. And in Florida, one major newspaper recently investigated and reported that almost 15,000 dead Floridians are still hanging around on the election rolls - just six weeks before one of the most vicious and important election cycles in our history. Can it be the sun? Most States have similar statistics.

Every two years, states must report to the federal Election Assistance Commission (EAC) information about the integrity and accuracy of their voter rolls. The latest report is not good news for our democracy - or our international reputation. South Dakota, Texas, Kentucky, Mississippi and Indiana report in excess of a dozen counties with more registered voters than breathing human beings old enough to vote. West Virginia, Maryland, Iowa and North Carolina also reported having eligible deceased voters on their rolls. The list goes on and on. And so does the real risk that these voters will have illegal votes registered in their names. Close races, like the Franken/Coleman race in Minnesota can be decided on just a handful of votes.

Voter fraud is not a big problem in this country, counting votes is. (As evidenced by the recent Pub primaries and caucuses. They can't even count their own votes.) If only someone could come up with a machine that can count and prints it out. In the old days, we called something like that a cash register.
