Senator Puts U.S. Nuclear Arsenal in Doubt

There is plenty of room to cut our nuclear arsenal. But as we cut, we need to make sure our remaining warheads are safe, reliable, and robust. For instance, rather than rebuilding the new W76-1 for the Navy, just build more W88s. They are more powerful and a newer and safer design. Furthermore, we should only retain warheads that are truly strategic with a high yield. Low-yield tactical weapons serve no purpose on today's battlefield. But strategic weapons do create deterrence. If an enemy knows that they will be hit with warheads with a large yield, they won't risk using a low-yield weapon against us. If we were to reduce all of our weapons to low-yield, then Russia and perhaps China begin to recalculate and think that a first strike against us isn't so bad.

Our so called 'leaders' are offering up the American people like a sacrificial lamb.

They're pitching us over the wall, hoping that will satisfy the hunger out there...

They will be eaten too.

Proof positive that liberal dems want to weaken America's influence in the world by attempting to de-fang the United States' military.

What kind of rose prism glasses does he own?

China's beefing up their military. North Korea and Iran are feverishly trying to arm themselves with nuclear weapons, Russia still poses a threat. And to think that a "chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee" is oblivious to the real threat posed by rogue nations.
