Obama Campaign: Donor Supper Like State Dinner

December 27, 2011 RSS Feed Print

Last week, we learned that the upcoming dinner with the president and first lady offered in a $3 raffle for campaign supporters was among the rarest offerings ever from the Obamas. Now we're getting to see just how exclusive and intimate it will be for the lucky three winners.

[Check out our editorial cartoons on President Obama.]

A week after former close aide Reggie Love revealed that usually only daughters Malia and Sasha get to dine together with their parents, a top Obama campaign aide has revealed the dinner seating chart. Squeezed in between President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will be the raffle winner and their guest.

Deputy Campaign Manager Julianna Smoot showed the seating chart in an email and compared the upcoming fete, Obama's second with small donors, to a state dinner--only more exclusive since only raffle winners will be at the table.

Here's Smoot's email:

I've put a lot of dinners together for the President and Mrs. Obama.

Sometimes they've been for foreign dignitaries and heads of state. Sometimes they've included governors, artists, and musicians. The seating can get pretty complicated, but I have to say, this one was easy.

One table, six guests, and the President and First Lady.

So really, my job's done. The only thing that's missing is who the guests will be.

Click here to give $3 or whatever you can and be automatically entered for a chance for you and a guest to have dinner with the President and First Lady:

I'd love for you to be there.

Thanks,

Julianna

Seems to me if a candidate for office wants to have potential voters have dinner with them, The candidate should pay all expenses. Who the hell in their right mind is going to pay for dinner with someone when that person is asking for their vote..
