John Zogby on Week: 145

Pollster John Zogby updates our weekly Obama Report Card with a grade on the president's performance. Zogby uses his polling, expert analysis and interaction with major players to come up with a grade and some comments that capture how he sees the president's week ending.

John Zogby on Week: 146

"The president continues to campaign successfully against Republicans in Congress, and this past week used his executive prerogatives to ease the debt problems of homeowners and students and announce an end of year pullout from Iraq. Those moves seem to be paying off. Our IBOPE Zogby interactive polls and others show a bump in Obama's approval rating. But this may be the calm before another storm. Europe's plan to rescue Greece from its dire debt situation may fall apart and wreak havoc on the world economy, including ours. The debt super committee remains deadlocked over the same issues that tied up the entire Congress: taxes and cuts to entitlements and defense. Any outcome by its Nov. 23 deadline, including no agreement and large trigger cuts in defense, health care and student loans, is likely to be unpopular with many voters."

This week's grade: B-

Last week's: C+

Angelina Montez of GA. I've been following your reponses and find your comments quite insightful. Makes me wonder if you are an attorney!

SPM BSTR of TX. You have mentioned that most polls would actually show that the Americans are growing tired of the obstructionist tactics of the Republican Party.

I find this point a little hard to swallow! Do you have a link?

SPM BSTR of TX:

There is nothing "tangible" in your entire response, including your referencing link:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2011/11/07/how-recovery-act-lifted-millions-poverty

Right off the top, the White House Blog utilizes quotes from the New York Times, a renouned leftist news media group, describing the explainations of many poverty experts. ....."many poverty experts"??? I linked up with yellowpages.com and asked them to find "poverty experts". They provided nada. Personally, and I would ask the general public if they have ever heard of a "poverty expert" ....which would only lead to the question: Is V.P. Joe Biden a possible "poverty expert"? How about some sub-comittee hand-picked by the Obama Administration? It appears the latter, as your referencing blog reveals, is true!

The blog continues: "Additionally, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities released a new report based on the Census Bureau’s new data which found that provisions passed as part of the Recovery Act directly lifted nearly 7 million Americans out of poverty in 2010 and reduced poverty for 32 million more."

The "Center on Budget and Policy Priorities", a "non-partisan" research and policy institute working on federal and state fiscal policies and public programs that affect low- and moderate-income Americans: http://www.cbpp.org/

The key word here is "non-partisan" which in essence means "one-sided"!

The differentiations from "tangible vs. intangible" are all too evident. One can place "hands-on", the "House passing 22 Bipartisan Jobs Bills, & Counting" by referencing the HC bill numbers, whereas absolutely nothing from your referencing blog is "tangible" at any level!

In other words, your entire response is moot.

....nice try, SPM BSTR, although, propaganda such as yours will never win out in the end!

(BTW, change your moniker ......doesn't suit you!)
