Obama Says $5 Dinner Offer Is No Joke

September 16, 2011 RSS Feed Print

The Obama-Biden team, which this week extended it's offer to give $5 donors a chance at dinner with the president, must be facing some skepticism. Because today, they issued another E-mail that said the offer isn't a joke.

"I know some people might think this is just some kind of trick or something. It's not," E-mails Campaign Manager Jim Messina.

And he impressed on supporters just how special the offer is because the president doesn't plan to spend a lot of time campaigning.

"The president obviously has very little time to spend on anything related to the campaign. And this is how he chooses to spend it—having real, substantive conversations with people like you," he wrote. Below is the whole E-mail:

Paul,

You got an email from the President a couple days ago, inviting you to sit down to dinner with him.

I know some people might think this is just some kind of trick or something. It's not.

The fact is that someday soon, four people reading this note right now will be on a plane to have dinner with President Obama in Washington, or Chicago, or wherever he might be that day.

Think about that for a second. The four people who win will sit down with the President of the United States of America—not for a two-minute photo-op or a quick meet-and-greet, but for a private meal with face-to-face conversation. That's just not something too many people will ever get to do.

This is really something you should be a part of.

Donate $5 today and you'll be automatically entered for the chance to have dinner with the President and three other supporters.

Worst-case scenario: you don't get selected. But if you donate, you'll have pitched in to support an organization that's funded at the grassroots level by folks across the country—not Washington lobbyists or special-interest PACs. You'll have given this campaign a boost, however small, to hire organizers, open offices, and build our organization this fall so it's ready for the hard work ahead of us.

And best-case scenario, you'll find yourself sitting across the dinner table from President Obama.

So give it a shot—donate $5 or more today:

Thanks,

Messina

I went to graduate school, (Indiana Wesleyan University). I had a degree in MBA specialized in Accounting, I came out with GPA 3.45, I could not get a job offer for years, my loan went from $31,000 to $35,000. I had four thousand in interest on the loan. Still searching for a job, because I want to create a difference, but I later got a job as a substitute teacher, I could not pay back on the loans, but could only afford the house rent.

The presidential fund raising, keeps poping up we should donate money towards the campaign, which I did, but do really ten and twenty dollars count towards the campaign because people with big donations would be given preferential treatment to.

I wish, I could be more involved because I am honest, hardworking and pay attention into detail kind of a guy. I joined the Shaker Blvd democratic party, I went their couple of times, to help out, mostly weekends, for the door to door and discussing how the change has been coming along, the effects of the health care reform how an average person can get medical treatment without having a huge bill at the end of the visit.

I wish I could have dinner with the President, because I stood with the President all along till this day.

I believe in myself, I believe in the President, I believe in USA if been giving the appropriate audiences, tools and back up, will be able to move us forward.

GIVE money to a man who's been stealing it all his life? Sounds like Obama's getting as lazy as he is dishonest.
