I might have missed it but was this a poll of just upper-end earning jet owner? that part was confusing, because I'm pretty sure no one was talking about across the board tax increases...

If it isn't a poll of just hedge fund execs and such, it's a bit misleading...

People seem to forget that Clinton *raised* taxes & harp on the fact that Bush simply brought them back down. And when he did, they brought Fed revenue's in at 20.9% averaged - Clintons average was 18.64%. Bush did that with 3 recessions and a war. We are now experienciing the mother of all recessions NOT because of Bush, but b/c Clinton 'regulated' the CRA & after those regs legislated banks *by law* to make subprime loans. *Good work*

Raising rates now is typically asinine of the Democrats. We need the revenue. We need an expanding economy. And we certainly need jobs.

But then why would they pop a braincell now, after all those stellar fiscal triumphs they've racked up since '06.

I question the results of this poll. Maybe the question was worded poorly. If people realize that the Bush tax cuts were meant to be temporary, and that if people realize that reverting back to the 1990's tax rates will not be a huge jump in taxes for any of us, public opinion might be a little different. I have no problem reverting back to the 90's tax rates. I would prefer that be done over cuts to social security and medicare. I, for one, care about the retired people on a limited budget. And I don't think people really have a full understanding of taxes and how they changed from the 90's to the 00's with the Bush tax cuts. The differences were minimal for most people. Of course, the wealthy received a ton of tax cuts in the 00's. I'm in the tax industry and have seen first hand how many millionaires ended up with effective tax rates that ran parallel to those considered middle class.
