Pollster John Zogby updates our weekly Obama Report Card with a grade on the president's performance. Zogby uses his polling, expert analysis, and interaction with major players to come up with a grade and some comments that capture how he sees the president's week ending.

John Zogby on Week: 116

"A government shutdown that looms over the Capitol and the nation hurts the president. He is supposed to be a mediator and a national leader. This is hyper-polarization at its worst. While voters are evenly split on who should be blamed for the impasse, voters also expect that presidential leadership can resolve these problems. We found 38 percent saying Obama deserves to be re-elected, including a 31 percent re-elect in what we have labeled 'green states', those that are genuinely swing states in recent presidential elections. Those numbers are significantly worse than Ronald Reagan's and Bill Clinton's at similar points in their terms. Also, the rebels are losing ground in Libya. Some weeks are just from hell."

This week's grade: D+

Last week's: C+

This is the grade indicative of Obama's entire tenure thus far. Most of "his fellow countrymen" have been mighty disappointed with this one.

It's good that 2012 is only next year as I sincerely believe Obama has no sequel!
