"If you want the truth to go around the world you must hire an express train to pull it; but if you want a lie to go around the world, it will fly; it is light as a feather, and a breath will carry it. It is well said in the old proverb 'a lie will go around the world while truth is putting its boots on!" ~ Charles Spurgeon

Gov. Mike Huckabee is an honorable man. Ask those who really know him. Think the best about someone until proven otherwise. I don't know why it is so much easier for some people to believe a lie about someone than to believe the truth. Get 'ALL' of the facts first ~ I think that you would like the same courtesy if the shoe was on the other foot.

Mother Jones has documents to back up their claims.

Mike Huckabee has "attack the messenger to distract from the message," and no more.

Weak tea, indeed.

This post could use some links so that readers can decide for themselves. Seems like pretty solid journalism to me -- no anonymous sources, lots of public records and primary sources.

The Mother Jones article can be found, in full, at: http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/04/huckabee-arkansas-destroyed-records

Their response to this post is here: http://motherjones.com/mojo/2011/04/huckabee-hard-drives-records-mother-jones

as those who want to find something--anything--to discredit Mike Huckabee keep digging deeper and deeper.

Their problem is that he has real integrity. So keep your microscopes and retroview telescopes all nice and shiny--you will find he may misspeak once in a while and you may be able to make something of it--except to people who actually look at the facts.

You may be able to spin some of his past decisions and activities until they bear no resemblance to the truth--but that won't work either for very long, because the simple truth is he is a good and honorable man who has done an outstanding job as Governor of Arkansas and if elected shows promise to become one of America's all-time great presidents.

I challenge Jim Hyndman and others of his mind to read Huckabee's books--all of 'em. Take time to get to know the truth--and think for yourselves.

I don't know what lettertohuckabee.com thinks Gov. Huckabee is hiding by not answering a letter at your web site; but you seem to think that he is deliberately avoiding your question. Maybe he hasn't even seen your letter. He can't spend all his time searching the Internet for every page that has his name in it. That would be a full time job for him, and he is busy preparing for his next job --President.

Regarding the accusations from Mother Jones, the article says he gave his papers to the university. If they want to accuse someone of hiding records, it should not be Huckabee.

I worked for a government office (different state). It is standard procedure to remove data from the hard drive and then either wipe it clean or destroy it. Gov. Huckabee is being attacked because people, Democrats and Republicans, are worried about his standing in the polls. He would make an excellent president.

Does anyone recall that the honorable mr huckabee had to recant on some totally false comments he made just a few weeks ago regarding this country's sitting President?

In fact mr. huckabee has a long record of making misleading and false statements - what comes around goes around.

And the fact remains that mr. huckabee is making no effort whatsoever - and did make no effort whatsoever - to make his records as governor a matter of public record.

Jim Hyndman of NY 9:35AM April 06, 2011

Maybe Arkansas State government is in a different universe, but in most states any record contained on a publicly owned computer is subject to the respective open records laws of the state. The issue is not whether Huckabee paid for the computers that were purged, it is whether the data on the computers should have been disclosed by a governor who should have had an open and transparent administration. This action does not pass the smell test, and anyone who thinks that the DNC won't gleefully exploit it is deluding themselves.

Did you not read the article? They, the university, haven't processed it yet. That's not something Huckabee can affect. This is so stupid, to bring up this issue, I mean record when he was governor.

Eric Tsai of CA 1:05AM April 06, 2011

This blatant unsubstantiated attack on Gov. Mike Huckabee is obviously in response to his lead in many important polls. Why would they bother to attack a loser. As long as they continue this , we will know that they perceive a threat. HUCKABEE 2012 !
