My step grand dad went Alzheimer's like after going under anaesthesia for surgery...was never right afterwards. He just died at 95.

I've had 2 close senior relatives who developed Alzheimer’s within a few years of surgical procedures requiring general anaesthesia. The other night I saw a documentary on the attempted assassination of Reagan by David Hinckley. Reagan required emergency surgery. Connection?

I've always liked Ron Reagan, for all that I don't see him much or know much about him...he seems VERY intelligent. This is his FATHER he's talking about and I'm sure he DID notice things before anyone else. Because it's such a dread disease, those closest, like wives and husbands, tend to ignore it because it's so scary. I don't think he is trying to disparage his father by telling this story - I believe it's both cathartic and helpful.

Shame on you for dwelling on a few words in his last chapter about HIS dad. Did you not read and appreciate the love poured into the previous eight chapters about HIS dad -- who but Nancy or perhaps Jane knew him more intimately?

It is amazing reading these people obviously RIGHT WINGERS REPUBLICANS,how the still try to COVER THE SKY WITH ONE FINGERS, they still want to excuse the lousy dis-service of their Republican presidents from Reagan to the Bushes, Reagan broke the Unions, first was the AIR TRAFFIC, then DE-REgulation, I had friends in the Air Traffic field, that were completely destroyed and left on the street with no job, so was I Worked for BRANFF INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES which due to Deregulation went on Chapter 11 consecuently I found myself after 15 years of my youth without a job, to experience a similar situation after another 15 years with KLM the ROYAL DUCTCH AIRLINES, that replaced us with NORTHWEST not merged, they simply came up with a new excuse name ( ALLIANCE) and short by a few years to get SS, and nobody would hire me because of my age, again I suffer the GREED of these companies that DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES. No wonder we are in the situation we encounter ourselves, and they do not want us to blame it on Bush?. I'm glad I'm 70 and do not have to look for a job the way the situation is.

I guess this people will never learn. I'm originally from Cuba, left it due to the Communist Regime, which I detest as much as I detest the extreme RIGHT , they are and aim to the same, so extreme apart but the same end.

Free Cuba NOW & may Darwin Bless America, my country!

I am a Democrat. Hated Reagan's politics. Was young and smart. Called his Alzheimer's when he stumbled with "there you go again..." during the first campaign. That being said...what kind of a low life slithers from behind a rock to bite the heel of his own father? This guy must be seriously in need of SOMETHING...money,fame,power...only he knows. Hope he confronts his issues (maybe atheism)(?), and finds some relief. Don't want anyone eternally tormented.

I am so tired of the Reagan children. They are reminiscent of the Carter family... always trying to make money off of their famous relative they could never measure up to in life or death.. God love 'em.

Ron's latest public display of disrespect and disloyalty for his father's memory is as embarrassing as it is repulsive. This guy seriously needs to find slink away and find a corner to hide in.

And I won't even begin to comment on his appearance.

I am a moderate Republican who considers President Reagan the finest American leader in my lifetime. Never once did we need to question this president's own immense patriotism and respect for the office he represented -- not with perfection, but always with dignity. I miss the sense of decorum ever present in this gentleman, for he openly expressed the sincere honor he felt as our commander-in-chief ... resident of our White House and its Oval Office. Happy 100th, Mr. President!

In his second term, tho' younger than Ron Jr., it was evident to me that Reagan sometimes grappled with a confusing loss of articulation, humor and polish. I was not alone in these teenage observations; there was printed concern from within his DC & LA Powers That Be. I remember one event that was so uncomfortable; it was difficult to watch then and confirmatory to see now. Log on to www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RDGklfT6HE and judge for yourself.

In this BBC documentary, Guest Ronald was totally disconcerted by not having been served decaffeinated coffee; Hostess Queen Elizabeth was distressed by his recurring requests and her staff's need for IV caffeine; and Guest Nancy, busily twirling herself and her coffee spoon round and round, was trying to save these awkward moments. Were the ensuing chitchat not so foreboding, there would have been plenty more laughter on both sides of The Pond. Alas, this footage was not replayed consistentlyat that time. I believe it to be just one of many well-executed deceptions designed to allow President Reagan to conclude his full second term.

With Nancy as the protective and oh-so-devoted spouse, of course she'd have been complicit in this conspiracy ... and will carry its myriad details to the grave next to "Ronnie's." For that reason, I thank Ron Jr. for addressing this subject to those of us who already thought of it as truth. It does not change his father's administration; it is what it is. However, in lieu of launching the book to SELL SELL SELL during the President's centennial celebration, there's no doubt his mother would have appreciated this matter be disclosed after her demise.

It is no wonder President Regan never had the ability to have a conversation with Ron Reagan Jr. Ron Jr should shut up until he learns how to communicate.
