"The president is coming back from a good vacation and a string of legislative victories. Lots of fanfare about the new Congress, new speaker, the Tea Party, repeal of health care reform, and massive reductions in spending. But if he couldn't unite his own party, the Republicans will. It will be a whole lot easier for President Obama to stare down Speaker John Boehner than a speaker from his own party. My latest polling shows his numbers climbing back up, especially because of stronger numbers from Democrats. Will Republicans help him make gain among independents as they placate the tea drinkers among them?"
