White House Blog Goes Into Election 2010 Battle Mode

The White House Blog, the administration's Web site used mostly to explain President Obama's programs and help Americans wade through the federal bureaucracy, has taken a decidedly political pre-election tone. Some days a how-to guide to his government while on others a lively daily presidential diary, the blog has recently been used to punch GOP opponents and their ideas. In the past two weeks, for example, the blog has taken a shot at a GOP lawmaker's threat to shut down the government and Minority Leader John Boehner's back-and-forth on extending Bush-era tax cuts to the rich. Some GOP-ers question the use of a taxpayer-funded site to bash the GOP, but Democratic strategists say it's the only way for the White House to deliver its message unfiltered. "It's really become a 'must' in any effective communications strategy," says former Democratic Party spokeswoman Karen Finney, a U.S. News blogger. "Given the proliferation of the 24-hour news cycle, blogs, opinion journalism, and the ease with which misinformation is circulated as fact, how could they not?"

Hi

The White House, Robert Gibbs steps down to move to a more "re-election focused on the way." Now rumor has it that William Daley, former Clinton cabinet official and the administration of stem most powerful political family in the tumultuous political history of Chicago, joins the team.

Thanks

Why are we surprised?

A better question is: Who will challenge Obama in the 2012 cycle?

*Mark Warner?

*Evan Bayh?

*Ed Rendell (a little older, but has experience and common sense!)?

*Hillary?

Someone needs to take him on that loves and believes in this Country, and is not willing to permit more attacks on the homeland, because we could “ABSORB IT”; or make decisions on war based on “POLITICS”! Wonder how family members with soldiers, sailors, airmen or Marines who are deployed feel after hearing the commander in chief make statements that were made in the Woodward book?? For Pete’s sake, if you are not in it to win it, BRING THE TROOPS HOME, and QUIT USING THEM AS OBAMA PAWNS!!

He has much bigger problems that ‘staff shakeup’!!!

As Adam Freedman has written at www.ricochet.com:

The dot-gov domain is administered by the GSA, an independent federal agency which publishes strict guidelines for all government sites. The guidelines include:

No Political or Campaign Information: The Gov domain is for the operation of the government, not the political, political party, or campaign environment. No campaigning can be done using Gov Internet domains. The Gov Internet domain websites may not be directly linked to or refer to websites created or operated by a campaign or any campaign entity or committee. No political sites or party names or acronyms can be used. Separate websites and e-mail on other top-level domains (TLDs), such as .org, will have to be used for political activity.
