Americans Say Obama Has Failed Economics

The president gets passing grades in religion, communications, and foreign affairs.

More Americans—almost a majority—believe that President Obama has failed economics than those who think he doesn't need a refresher course. In our latest Washington Whispers poll, 46.6 percent said that the president needs to take economics 101 over again, a large condemnation of his handling of the economy.

But another 32 percent said that Obama, a former college professor, has done his best so far and doesn't need to take any classes over.

As proof that the economy and jobs dominate the national conversation, the poll found that few thought Obama needed a refresher course in religion, communications, and foreign affairs.

It's back-to-school time, when some students unfortunately have to retake the high school and college classes they failed last year. Which course do you think President Obama has failed in his first 19 months on the job?

Economics 47%

None of these 32%

Religion 8%

Foreign Affairs 7%

Communications 6%
