William, the Unemployment rate is well above 12%. Latest U6 number is 16.5%. This is the true number without removing people from the workforce or reducing the numbers of availabe jobs. The current 8.6% number is just a feel good number manufactured for consumtion by the masses.

Just another example of the vile fear and hatred which has become the trademark of the Republican Party. I remember when this came up in the Bush administration thinking that the democrats were being pretty picky in criticizing Bush for taking so much vacatin time. The facts here are that W. had taken 115 days away from the white house at this point in his presidency compared to Obama's 48. As noted, he does not own any major resorts to retreat to, so this is what he does. I'm guessing he's probably in the middle of the road compared to Presidents in general. The problem in my view is this sickening unsubstantiated hatred that gets displayed by the Republicans and most especially tea partyers. I also remember thinkiing about this time in Bush's presidency (actually a little later...about 2 years in) that it was also poor taste to be criticizing him for the economy at the time. I knew he had inherited a recession. It boggles my mind to think that Republicans can be so ignorant as to believe that what is happening now is Obama's fault. The latest study I saw says that w/o the "bailout" we'd have 12% unemployment right now. Even Bush knew what needed to be done and was beginning similar economic moves. In Alan Greenspan's memoirs he recounts the moment in the housing crisis where he realizes (with great shock!) that he'd been wrong. Alan Greenspan is probably the most libertarian of Republicans economically. He was wrong. At least he can admit it. Republicans can't. And, those who can't recognize their mistakes are doomed to repeat them. The mistake will be a return to cowboy unregulated capitalism. Having reasonable regulation is not "red" There's nothing "red" about having a health care system like everyone else in the free world that is regulated and partially socialized. There's a reason why we pay twice as much for our health care as anyone else. There's a reason for our health care inflation which is 3 times everything else. Unfortuanately, it's impossible to have a sane conversation with people like Mr. "Red Threat" I'm with Jon Stewart. We need a return to sanity.

I don't begrudge Obama a vacation, how bout 2 weeks like most working people in this country?

On a serious note I keep hearing how tough the job is and how he needs all of this vacation. Just how hard is his job in compared to the average small business owners or American worker? Does he deal with heavy issues? Absolutely. On the other hand he has people who do everything for him except hold it when he pees. Does he work long hours? Not particularily. I work about 18 hours a day, 7 days a week like many, if not most small business people. I haven't had a vacation in 10 years. I am not jealous, but find it amusing that people think he works so hard and has so much stress. How hard does the average factory worker have to work just to support a family? Maybe 55-60 hours a week. Maybe more to get all of the overtmiie they can so their kids can go to a public school. How much stress do they have worrying about keeping a job? That is real stress, not the stress that comes from worrying about re-election. This guy has never had to worry about making a payroll, fire someone or fight his own government just to keep a legitimate business open. I am not critizizing Obama in particular as all presidents have done this on our dime. He just happens to be the most recent example. Some may think I am exaggerating, but think about your own life for a minute and how hard you have to work to survive.

The less he "runs" this country the better off we are, I agree with David Letterman, a permanent vacation may be in his future, if we are lucky!!!!

The most arrogant vapid useless traitor this country has ever seen! I got a good vacation for him, the permenant type this fool's gonna get in 2012!

The Obama bashers will damn him if he does or doesn't. Bush is the single most vacationing president! President Obama is stimulating the economy. Let's not forget, the Bush economics started the downward spiral.

I figure the less time he Obama spends meddling in things he knows nothing about (insert your own topic) the better off our country will be. Can he take vacation until November of 2012?

Michael Lee of TN 12:18PM August 16, 2010

It must nice to be able to disconnect from the damage you do to this country.

Show them the EXIT door in 2012 and start voting out the obama followers in November.
