Golf Becoming Obama's Passion

He's been president for 80 weeks. And during more than half of those weeks, mostly on weekends, President Obama has gone golfing. [See photos of Obama behind the scenes.]

In fact, he's hit the links so many times—43—that the press is comparing him to the last presidential hyper-golfer, Dwight Eisenhower. That's led reporters to coin a new phrase for the weekend golf pool coverage: "Eisenhower duty."

Now to be fair, Obama is not as golf-crazed as some past presidents. Ike, for example, golfed about 800 rounds as president, or about twice a week, according to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission in Washington. Woodrow Wilson golfed even more: 1,200 rounds.

Generally the press holds in an area away from Obama, who typically golfs with aides over four-plus hours. One thing that's most notable about his weekend outings is that the president motorcades to the local courses at Andrews Air Force Base, the Army Navy Country Club, and Ft. Belvoir.
