NRA Targets 4 Big Threats to Gun Ownership

Ohio wants to make conceal carry legal in bars. That's where I draw the line. No mixing guns and alcohol in establishments. We need to get MADD involved in this one.

The only time a congressional Democrat in either the House of Representatives or the Senate has actually advocated a total ban on private gun ownership (handguns, rifles, and shotguns) was a comment by California senator Diane Feinstein from 1995. Ms. Feinstein was not speaking for her party's official stance on guns, but only her own personal opinions.

The Roe v. Wade decision has always generated opposition from the pro-life/anti-abortion movement. By contrast, very few gun-control advocates oppose the Supreme Court's Heller and Mcdonald decsions the same way the pro-lifers oppose the Supreme Court's Roe ruling.

How accurate is the stereotype that Democrats allegedly favor a 100-percent ban on private firearms? (Lesser forms of gun control are a different matter, of course.)

First of all, the Democratic Party platform has never called for a total gun ban. Never. A total ban was never official party doctrine.

Second of all, the U.S. Supreme Court has already imposed a ban on a total gun ban since it's 2008 Heller ruling. That would imply there are no longer any serious total-gun-ban advocates.

Third, is that why some gun owners vote Republican? Because of an exaggerated stereotype.

None of these Congressional proposed laws have anything to do with public safety - it is all about CONTROL.

Forcing you to apply, register, be fingerprinted, be photographed, entered in data bases, and fined for not complying -for what purpose? What is also not mentioned is how much money you will have to pay to apply, register, etc.; including additional taxes on gun shops to be licensed to process the additional paperwork with the additional gun shop costs being passed on to the consumer. More taxes to support the federal employees to manage all aspects of the proposed laws. Fees, Taxes and Fines and loss of privacy.

This is all about trying to "deter" more folks from keeping and bearing arms. Therefore, the fewer folks that own guns the fewer that will standup for their 2nd amendment rights. Democrats want to "erode-away" the 2nd amendment; allow them to win their 2nd amendment campaign and the 1st amendment will be next.

These four "reasonable" sounding provisions are a ban by the back door. This is exactly the way it was done in the UK, creeping regulations that tightened perceived loopholes in the law bit by bit over the years. When the gun grabbers made their final move, most of the work had already been done, the general public already conditioned by years of anti-gun propaganda and hysterical media reports. Banning semi autos was the first step on the slippery slope; shotgunners and small bore rifle shooters stood silent as they weren't affected....restrictions on storage, photographing, background checks and home inspections (accompanied by a massive hike in permit fees) followed, and gun owners - including the British NRA fell over themselves in the rush to collaborate. In 1997, they seized all handguns belonging to law abiding citizens, and there was no-one left to speak out

"In Germany they first came for the Communists,

and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,

and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics,

and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me -

and by that time no one was left to speak up."

I AM A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN .....IF I AM MADE A CRIMINAL WITH THE STROKE OF A PEN ......THEN I WILL START BEHAVING LIKE ONE......

Simply put, the primary organization that filed the Heller and McDonald cases was the 2nd Amendment Foundation -- not the NRA. The NRA got on board the Heller case a bit earlier than they did on the McDonald case. The fact is that they have been afraid to take the 2A directly to SCOTUS.

They may have participated, but by no means are they deserving any more than a small portion of the credit.

According to the Second Ammendment Foundation, (a very staunch pro firearms organization) this is probably a bogus quote... let's NOT give the enemies of self defence the ammunition to shoot us in the foot by weakening our credibility... let the inaccuracies always be on their side, to destroy the public's willingness to listen to their distortions--- NOT US!!!!

The unfortunate part about all the hustle and bustle over gun laws is that they do absolutely nothing to deter criminals from obtaining guns! When will people ever get this through their heads? They don't buy them in stores! They are bought on the street ILLEGALLY!

1. You can't prohibit illegal acquisition of firearms no matter what laws are created. Where theres a will, theres a way.

2. Registration, required training, fingerprinting, etc, will not deter it either.

3. There are so many millions of guns in the U.S. already that this is just a serious waste of tax dollars.

4. In the end, gun laws only affect law abiding citizens THAT AREN'T OUT COMMITTING CRIMES ANYWAY!
