this sorry excuse for a senator says we all want our medicare? excuse me ... congress passes the medicare legislation whether I want it or not and what does he think will happen ... the insurance company that would have insured me finds a birdnest on the ground. let the gov't insure the senior citizen ... we will insure the low risk insurance buyer ... only a boob would keep voting for senators like him.

On September 12, 2009, a couple of million Tea Party protesters marched in Washington DC to challenge the administrations policies. However, the mainstream media never reported this magnitude of dissent. Democrat lawmakers read & believe the mainstream media. Democrats are still firmly convinced the Tea Party movement is a fringe & biased group that will eventually dissipate once the Democrat agenda is properly explained. Truly, President Obama has led the Democrat party off the cliff like a Wily coyote/roadrunner cartoon. They are hanging in space. The long fall to the bottom will happen on November 2nd. They will continue to be surprised by this stunning result since they continually ignored facts & angry responses all along.

Well, according to the socialists the voters were right in 2008, but NOW, when the voters realize the magnitude of their error, the socialists call the voters wrong and hypocritical.

So, to the socialists, all socialists, the voter is quite unnecessary -- iff they get enough power to ignore them. Obama should have gotten his private army that he wanted first -- before any of the theft from the producers that he has initiated.

If he had his private army "as well trained and equipped as the US military for at home security" he could simply turn them loose on the Tea Party and be done with it.

Hugo Chavez showed him the way, but the big O didn't follow.

The next socialist elected will probably not make the same mistake -- it is therefore the responsibility of all voters to make absolutely sure that socialism never gets a chance to run amok again.

This is TRULY the stuff of which Revolutions are made.

Both the reported comments by Mr. Kerry, as well as the majority of the comments below.

Wake up, people. "Republican," "Democrat" means diddly for those career politicians. They are out there to get an easy job with no heavy lifting and excellent job security, salary and "perks" notwithstanding.

The only reason there seem to be two parties is that each latches on different special interest groups historically paying for their presentation in the government.

If you want to be angry, elect an independent, based on their values and actual achievements so far, next time you vote. And if that bugger turns out (highly likely) to be another fake, it's easier to vote out independents than somebody with a party support.

I think it was Jefferson himself that wrote in a letter that party system is going to be the death of fairness of the constituent representation as outlined in the constitution. And that was way back when the SCOTUS had yet to clear all special interest groups for pouring as much money as they want into getting things their way.

Those aren't the words I would choose to describe it. The federal government has spent us into trillions of dollars of debt. And what are we paying for? Wars with no defined objective. Government regulators like the SEC, TSA, and MMS that are either inept or gaming the system. Government workers who easily out-earn their private sector counterparts for doing less work. Pork projects everywhere. A trillion-dollar bailout with no measurable impact. A massive health care plan that no congressman honestly knows how it will impact the country.

When the recession hit, politicians like Kerry, Obama, and both sides and parties of Congress belittled Americans for having too much debt, for making poor decisions, and for mismanaging their money. Politicians excoriated banks for gambling with their depositor's money. Politicians went after car companies to explain why they were losing money hand over fist.

What the politicians conveniently leave out is that ALL of this behavior is *because* of the politicians. The federal government mandated that banks, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac make subprime mortgages to people who had almost no chance to pay off those loans. When they couldn't pay, taxpayers footed the bill. The federal government implicitly gave the TBTF banks the assurance that huge losses would be covered by a taxpayer bailout. The federal government gave American car companies all sorts of protection in regards to foreign trade, subsidies, and labor laws, and when they couldn't even make that work, the government bailed them out too. All with taxpayer money that we don't have.

Sure, we want the government to provide us with things. But politicians like Kerry see that as carte blanche to just spend every nickel in sight and keep asking for more. That is not what people want. People want government to be responsible with our money. Is that being hypocritical? We give Washington our hard-earned money to spend, and because we question why they are wasting so much of it, we are hypocrites? The federal government is the least fiscally responsible institution in America, closely followed by state and local governments teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. The government budgeting process is backwards and gives incentives to spend every tax dollar that comes their way. This has to stop. When I see Congress slashing budgets and paying down the national debt, then I'll be impressed.

I don't particularly like Sen. Kerry, but he does have a point that most voters want to have their cake and eat it too. We want robust government programs but low taxes; limited government regulation but strong protection from eColi, lead paint, and oil spills.

The 'audacity of arrogance' clearly defines our lunatic Lefty brothers.

I think Kerry is picking up an Obama trick. Say something that they want everyone to believe regardless of it's truth and expect the "ignorant masses" to believe it.

Comprehension gap? Are you kidding me?

So basically, he's saying voters are too stupid to see what a swell job they're doing. ...and if we were only as smart as John Kerry, it would be obvious. What an arrogant jerk!

This is what I think: If Obama and the rest of his party were REALLY doing a good job, it would be obvious to everyone. Even the simpletons. Jobs would be returning. Decisions on immigration and the environment would seem to make sense. The level of corruption in Washington would be on the decline instead of escalating through the roof. Attitudes would be shifting toward optimism instead of despair.

The "comprehension" that John Kerry speaks of (and hopes for) is one that requires the citizenry to be deaf, dumb and blind.
