Attacking Glenn Beck is a sad attempt at diverting attention from the plethora of real issues affecting us all. Try the scandalous financial status of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, for example. Why no investigation? Joe Sestak being offered a possible plumb administrative post in order to withdraw from the PA senatorial race - ignored for what reason? Interesting how real issues are ignored for the sake of going after a political gadfly.

OK - short attention span people - The topic is gold sold by Beck on his show.

Spare us the usual Tea Party rants about Washington and the evil that only lurks with Democrats (like our pal in Indiana? or the gubanatorial candidate in SC? or Vitter? or Ensign? or Craig? or DeLay? or Sanford? or Lay? or Abramoff, or.... oops - GOP in all of these cases) Sure - there are Dems that are not right too, like Rangel. But Frank has done nothing wrong, nor has the President or Sestak. Nice try, Jay. Let's be sure to look at both sides of the coin....

Fact is that these types of "gold coins" "specially minted" with images of John Wayne, Buffalo Bill, or whoever have been sold on TV for years and have always been a fraud. Weiner just pointed out that this product is no "investment", and buyer beware. US Mint coins are a good value.

Weiner was trying to help consumers. If you want to buy this junk, be my guest. When you die, your family will be stuck trying to sell it all off for no real money...A waste of legitimate portfolio space.

O’Reilly Looking Out For Beck Not “The Folks” Who Might Be Customers Of Goldline

Reported by Ellen - May 25, 2010 -

Bill O’Reilly says in every show that he’s “looking out for you.” But when he hosted Rep. Anthony Weiner last night (5/24/10), the only one O’Reilly really seemed to be looking out for was multi-millionaire Glenn Beck who, O’Reilly feared, might have gotten singled out unfairly, in Weiner’s very critical report about how Beck’s sponsor, Goldline, rips off unsophisticated investors.

Weiner’s report, issued last week, accuses Goldline of bilking their customers by overcharging for their gold coins, by falsely claiming to offer good investments, having their salespeople misrepresent their ability to give “investment advice” and forming an “unholy alliance” with conservative pundits like Beck who, Weiner noted, often promotes gold as the only safe investment before cutting to a commercial break with an ad from Goldline.

Beck has become a multi-millionaire thanks in part to Goldline and his own apocalyptic shenanigans. But, as Mother Jones reported after their own recent investigation of Goldline, many of Beck’s viewers have not done nearly as well with the company. “The price of gold has increased 133 percent since the beginning of 2006, yet many Goldline customers say they have lost money on their purchases after discovering… that they had badly overpaid for their gold coins.” Mother Jones’ Stephanie Mencimer noted that 44 people across the country have filed complaints against Goldline with the Los Angeles BBB in the past three years and that “customers have also griped about their dealings with the company on message boards such as Ripoff Report and PissedOffConsumer.com. Regulators in Missouri have sanctioned the company for pressuring an elderly couple to liquidate their other investments to buy overpriced coins.”

This country fell off the cliff the day the American people started relying on the Federal government to take care of them. We were willing to give up our freedom and liberty so we wouldn't be personally responsible for our own actions. And when that wasn’t good enough we stop holding our elected officials to the highest standards. Ask yourself how many of the people in Congress you would hire for your business. I am guessing the answer is not many if you did a average background check on them.

This is no ones fault but our own.

Keep voting for the same set of crooks and you will continue to get the same results!

It's really simple. If the coins are that terribly overpriced and Goldline only advertises with rightwing fear-mongers, then the poor idiots who buy them will never get back their investment, let alone make a profit. It shows Beck's contempt for his audience.

If we wind up in some kind of "Mad Max" post-Apocalyptic hell, a gold coin is not going to fill your gas tank or feed your kids. Goldline is a scam.

Anthony Weiner is absolutely right to expose this fraud, and let the government do something about the sleaze merchants. This is a legitimate function of government, and if Bush had understood that, maybe the world wouldn't have fallen off a cliff in 2008.

The higher priced coins are collector coins- they have additional value for limited minting or because they are antiques. Newly minted coins are about the same at all dealers and GoldLine is a Government Authorized Purchaser. You can get more information at the governments mint web site at http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/american_eagles/?action=american_eagle_bullion. Goldline is a has high ratings with the BBB. I used them myself and I would definitely buy from them again. All of Beck's adds have the disclaimer that the investemt MAY be part of a DIVERSIFIED investment. Truth matters and Beck is telling the truth. Congressman Weiner is not.
