LOOK FOLKS, I think from the bottom of my heart this was a bad act from a group of LOSER individuals. I also have had experience IN the oil fields and let me tell you there is way's of containing this. I for one HAVE several answers to this , but I would be killed for it by the loser groups. Plane and simple it COULD be contained. I KNOW HOW TO DO IT!!!! I am NOT an engineer, THANK GOD, because I wouldn't be standing around scratching my _ss with this. You say there is ice crystals? BIG DEAl!!! You say the water is very cold down 5000', I'm sure it is, but it's NOT FREEZING. Did you ever think the steel is a conductor of cold water/air. I work in the engineering field and we have used SEVERAL technics to stop the cold from forming barriers. IT CAN BE DONE IN THIS SITUATION TOO!!!!But it will cost you for ME to give you the solution. Engineering degree or not I KNOW how to fix this, but there hasn't been enough oil spilled to destroy us yet so they the scum bags aren't ready.

Oil spills happen, both naturally and otherwise. We know this, and we have known this for many years. But we still need to drive our cars to work, and make plastic, and heat our homes. No one is willing to give that up, no matter how many dead manatees make it onto the news. And so any reactionary measures are likely to cause more harm than good. The best we can do is minimize oil spills by imposing rigorous standards of procedure, multiple layers of oversight, and trying to reduce overall consumption of oil as much as possible.

Here's what we have to gain from getting out of oil (Middle Eastern or otherwise): (1) no more dependence on decadent dictatorships - we can't really go around preaching peace and freedom when we're forced to publicly make out with crime lords, opium barons, and people who consider themselves living gods; (2) significantly reduced greenhouse gas pollution; (3) we can stop getting ripped off by OPEC; (4) we can avoid coming tensions with Russia, Canada, and Greenland over access to Arctic oil deposits; (5) the exorbitant prices our citizens pay to meet their daily energy needs will no longer line the pockets of speculators, currency manipulators, and day-traders; (6) we will have incentives to develop new energy technologies, which we can then market to the rest of the world.

To the poster that is ranting about how evil corporations moved our jobs to China--BOTH political parties support globalization, which involves the diffusion of wealth and jobs from countries like the United States to developing countries. Other than campaign rhetoric, nobody is going to put the brakes on that. Sorry to burst your partisan bubble. Second, our tax laws punish those companies that create wealth and jobs, and encourage them to move overseas. If you lowered corporate taxes, you're going to reverse that incentive and keep more jobs in this country. But no matter what, some jobs will remain overseas. There's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube. Globalization is here to stay, and anyone who tells you different is trying to sell you something.

No one ever blamed President Bush for the natural disaster. The blame was how he and his appointed cronie "Brownie" handled the situation. Lets be clear I don't thjink anyone can disagree Brownie bungled the job an "W" gave him a "good job Brownie" Peopel lost lives property and their livelyhood bacause of a engineering failure. It was only made worse by the way the federal government responded to the emergency, I can't believe that Brownie would ever show his face but some reporter maust have dug under a rock and found him to give an opinion on the BP fiasco. Well the unashamed Brownie gave his opinion. I can't tell you what he said because he turns my stomach and I changed to another station that had some actual facts and some people of authority.

You think the multi-national corporations care about the American PEOPLE? Hell NO! Maybe you Conservative wackos didn’t notice but Corporations are the ones who moved all your good paying jobs to Communist China and caused the meltdown of our economy WITH THE HELP OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY…

I want to know something else… WHY is it that every other civilized nation on the planet, EXCEPT the USA, REQUIRES Oil drilling operations to have back up plans and top shelf shut off valves in case of emergency? I guess British Petroleum thought $500,000 was TOO MUCH for a workable shut off system. I know they LOBBIED in 2003 against the US government putting such REGULATION into place… (and I heard Cheney’s Halliburton is involved with this and other spills)

NOTE: search Greg Palast

Ohhhh and isn’t it telling the Times Square idiot bomber tried to make a hasty escape to Dubai? …Just like Dick Cheney’s Halliburton. A corporation who made a fortune from shoddy workmanship. Unlike the average American, corporations like Halliburton, Massey Energy and British Petroleum can get away with shoddy workmanship, mining explosions and oil spill disasters because the Republican Party (and some Blue Dog Democrats) are their paid for Ho’s…

IT’S ACCOUNTABILITY TIME! If the PEOPLE don’t DEMAND IT now then you don’t deserve rights and freedoms the USA represents.

FEMA and Bush were there the first days after and the result was that now we have "czars" that are the front people in a disaster to coordinate response efforts. So government response is the problem. Barry has taken to that notion a little too well with his appointments of "czars" never the less he just showed up around there this week while his "czar" was rafting in the Grand Canyon on vacation. That's more than two weeks after the fact! So much for the community advisor!

Word is, you always rise to the level of your incompetence. What is sad is that this man is president.

Something they don't tell you is Iran offered to help in the cleanup.

To make this argument, aren't conservatives recognizing that the Bush response to Katrina was fatally flawed? And if that is the case, why didn't they speak out then?

Obama (aka Barry Soetoro) is the one who received the most amount of cash from BP in the last twenty years. There was a great article on this in the Drudgereport website today showing the amounts.

I don't think the timing for the two previous comments from Jeremy of IL and Sierra Blanca of CO could have been better. To me it shows just how badly they need plexiglass belly buttons... that way they could at least see where they are going with their heads stuck up their ass.
