Desejo enviar um trabalho científico sobre a data 2012 do calendário Maia.

Por favor, me envia um e-mail para enviar o trabalho?

Cordialmente abraço de Brasil.

On the strength of what does / did the Mayan calendar make such a prediction. Excuse my ignorance on thsi....

It does make some sort of a sense as a hook for an advertising campaign.

Even small-scale, personal, disaster preparation is a good thing. What happens if there's an LPG tank truck leaking just outside your house?

But I'd want to know just who was pushing this. I wouldn't trust the Bush-era appointees to FEMA, not after New Orleans.

Well,

What a disappointment. Those supposedly most capable to lead us in the end decide to use divining and prognostication rather than science and rationality to stress the importance of preparing for disasters. And the fact that Bush FEMA officials are manning some of the oars on this voyage using "fear and ignorance" as a tool to promote public policy due to the number of website hits regarding the utterly nonsensical idea that a previous civilization may have had regarding when the earth would end lacks complete credibility given the Katrina fiasco.

When will our public servants realize that rationality and science driven public policy is much more reliable as a method to address our nations problems? Those who "believe" in this Mayan "prophecy" will already be taking action -they are already afraid, so go ahead and use these times to get the message across using scientific and rational discourse. Using fear and ignorance to shape public policy should remain with the dark ages of the Bush era. As a country, we need to prove that we can think an plan ahead, mot just instill fear and react to the imagined threats of the big,bad world around us. Iraq should have taught us that much at least.

Much to be said on this one. I've been looking at this subject for the last 20 years and collected a web site of infomation. www.2012yayas.com Considers a number of factors for anyone wondering what the fuss is all about.
