Senator Collins: Government Should Counter Pay-Gap Claims

Yup I'm a federal government employee and get all those perks. I hope you America get to pay the same Health Insurance Premium as I do, $560 a month just for me and my wife and no BS Cadillac plan either. Yes I do pay taxes contrary to sum idiots who think I don't and yes I will retire with half pay just like most folks. Yup took me twenty nine years starting at $19,000 a year four promotions and lots of hard work to make my salary now that for years was considered underpaid when compared to private industry. Gee wouldn't it be nice to be compared by job instead of the entire work force vs gov't workforce - even this dumb gov't employee can see that media hacks and politicians are comparing apples and oranges just to blow their swill to try and prove a point that cannot be proven.

Cut goverment jobs, put them into the cheaper, more efficently ran private sector!!!

there's too many govt workers for anyone in congress to dare cross. Yes they are overpaid, primarily due to cadillac benefit packages and disproportionate percentages of workers in unions and no need to worry about workers creating a profit, since government doesn't need to run in the black. Contrary to Sen Collins' complaint, there isn't enough airtime and ink being dedicated to this story. Because of job security, govt workers should be making LESS, not more, than their private sector counterparts. All federal wages should be frozen until the equation begins to balance out.

Who do you think pays the gov.employees? The taxpayers..Who do you think is going to and is bailing out their 2 trillion dollar bankrupt pension fund? The TAXPAPERS.Are ALL gov. employees whitecollar,no,should we have bailed out Wall Street,NO.Do some Wall Street employees make millions if not billions for their companies and investors,YES.DOES ANY GOVERMENT EMPLOYEE DO THAT FOR US THE TAXPAYER,NO.They just for the most part spend our money. Please don't compare apples to oranges.

Only the free market, competition and the economy says what the private sector wages will be.The goverment, patronage and unions say what goverment employees make, and we the taxpayers are just expected to pay.Or do you think the private sector should price itself out of business? Then who's left to pay taxes to support the goverment?

I would like to see the gap in white collar jobs in the New York City area where Wall Street bonuses exceed Government salaries; the result may very well show that Government white collar jobs are grossly underpaid.
