GOP Testing a New Contract With America

The reason our government has become dysfunctional is because republicans have worked hard to make it that way. They hate government because they're like spoiled teens who want no rules on their behavior. Electing republicans has always spelled disaster for this country. I'm over 70 years old I cannot think of one good thing republicans have ever done for the people of this country.

Gee, do you suppose the Republicans' contract ON America will address the evils they have brought into our midst, from mean-spirited partisan intransigence to stubborn insistence that their "principles" are the only ones that count? They have been responsible for almost all the disasters we've faced -- unnecessary war at a cost of a billion dollars a day, failure to regulate the conscienceless money-grubbers of Wall Street (and many other industries like communications and telephony and drug companies), the decline in civility and the gradual destruction of the infrastructure of our nation through short-sighted negligence.

If the country lurches to the right after only two years of the new Administration -- which has been forced to clean up a mess left by Republicans -- it will be a sad day and another step in the downfall of America. Are we so wrapped up in instant gratification that we can't even give them time to work? What we ought to do is throw as many Republicans out of Congress as possible to send the message that we don't think they can govern better and we don't like their attitude.

(I apologize for any misspellings. The type is so small I can barely read it.)

Just don't lie to us and don't blow smoke. The real answer to our problem is really quite simple. Raise taxes and cut spending in equal proportion until we achieve balance. Then tax some more and cut some more spending and start paying down our debt. It is a great big sh*t sandwich and we all take an equal bite. Expect less from government and start solving your own problems. That's what being an American is all about

Do they think we are all imbeciles? How

many times do we have to watch the republicans go thru this charade.

Don't they get bored doing this all the time. Don't they remember it's the

exact same stuff trotted out in the previous election andd in the one before

that. Sometmes I wonder if Republicans read? How can they act like this

is new and has n't been said and promised before. All repuicans

always repeat the same old dogma during an election Everyone knows it by

heart. It doesn't mean anything. Why write it down? It makes them

look like fools. As if they had somthing new and important to say. Maybe they

like this drivel. Geez, that's sad.

There are no specifics. "Cutting the deficit, the size of government, and limiting spending" only means one thing.....gutting Social Security and Medicare, you ninnies.
