Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck Top Tea-Party Picks

Golly, now we are supposed to be somehow worked up, distracted, disturbed or whatever because most of the people surveyed (exactly whom, how many, and by what manner we are not told) are unaware of the Tea Party movement, or various conservative figures.

Let's forget that no one can vote for the Tea Party, that the poll mixes politicians, movements and state officials, then let's ask ourselves if this really matters. The answer would be no.

What we do know is that, somehow, Scott Brown came out of nowhere to defeat the established machine candidate in Massachusetts and upended the complacency and arrogance of the Democratic Party. Can people "name" the factors that caused that to happen? We also know, if truth be told, that most people never know much of anything until it's on top of them. I wonder if most people had actually heard of Fidel Castro before he overthrew the Cuban government?

It took a long time before Facebook became mainstream, but it did, and it also revolutionized social networking. But even today, I wonder what percentage of people actually know about it. Once again, the reality is is that it doesn't matter.

I just do not understand the phrase, "I want my America back!". Last time I checked the Native Americans have that right. The rest of you Pilgrims are just visitors that refused to leave. Or is that phrase code for "just us Pilgrims."

It is fear, not anger that drives the ignorant.

To multicultural R US of OH, you're so pathetic. Spoken like a true BHO zombie. What Beck and Palin supporters have in common is we think for ourselves. BHO does not send a thrill up our legs. We believe in limited government, not unlimited government. We don’t have contempt for higher education, we just object to our children being taught by “intellectuals” that we are such a terrible country. We don't like having our tax dollars redistributed. We think the federal government has gotten out of control and is generally operating outside the framework of the constitution. People like you who blindly follow BHO and are too ignorant to keep informed of what's going on are the problem, not people attending tea party rallies. Seriously, are you a public school teacher? At the very least I’ll bet your salary comes from tax dollars. Answer me this, why do government employees need to be unionized? I thoughts unions existed to protect workers from unscrupulous employers?

As much as I like the tea party movement and all that they are doing, they are actually hurting the chances of candidates that are truly independent and willing to do the people's work. All things considered check out this article on the tea party in florida

what do supporters of beck and palin have in common?

white, aging, largely from the rural west, and contemptuous of higher education.

tancredo put his finger on the demographic with his "cult of multiculturalism" rant.

unfortunately, this shrinking demographic fails to grasp that they are just another minority in this gloriously multicultural nation.

or perhaps they do realize it deep down, and their rage is their way of dealing with the hard truth.

People who consider this loose knit grass roots movement a political party are missing the point. Tea parties are protests against percieved injustice (excessive taxation and spending). They are disorganized by intent. Attempting to coalesce these folks into a unified political party will cause its demise. There are way too many differing points of view present to have them rally around any one leader. Their power will lie in forcing the Republicans and Democrats to modify their policies to suit their wishes, just like the progressives have succeeded in doing for the past century. Beck needs to stay on TV doing what he does. Palin will stay in the Republican party to do whatever she is going to do. The market place of ideas is enhanced by tea parties. Forging a new political party out of them won't work.

I'm sorry, but if Sarah Palin is the candidate for president three years from now, It is going to make my life a whole hell of a lot easier. If she wins it will make my life a dream come true. As a blogger, I will never again have to touch my computer keyboard. These things will write themselves.

I know this sounds exceedingly selfish on my part and I am embarrassed to say it in so public a forum. I hope she never goes away. For the self-described political satirist, she is the gift that keeps giving and giving and giving....

I'm so ashamed.
