GrannyCares (love the name) the NYT post is great I am not sure that Obama was lying in his speech...he simply would not get away with it. I do think some think he choose his words very well (as politicians do) But I thought the fact that his tone shifted many times during his speech. As the post states, "the Obama thrill is gone" and ppl are now getting to be a little more critical which is a good change from the "admiration" type media that was dominating conversation.

The only thing the american people want are leaders that are truthful and have integrity. If you say that you are going to stand up for something then do it. Don't say it and then go merrily on your way never even attempting to follow through. Obama commited to the american people in his campaign. Then he did what he wanted and never kept his word. What do we have in politics if we vote for promises that they have no intention of keeping. Change is what we need and we got change alright, just the wrong kind. Now my grandkids are going to be paying off this debt. It's not fair.

I do not believe that the people running our country understand how money is created. You cannot tax and increase government spending your way out of a recession! Is this a product of our educational system not teaching economics effectively enough? I am ready to see some fiscal responsibility by every level of government. Federal all the way down to our local agencies seem to believe that increasing their budgets every year is normal! I have been running a small company now for 11 years and my budget has remained constant for 5 years now! We have seen increased cost in insurance, fuel, wages etc. and yet have still been able to stay within our budget, Yes we had to make spending habit changes, but we all have to do that when times get tough! Including our families that are the real heroes in the area of fiscal responsibility!

I am so proud of Obama for having the courage to stand up for himself and for his country. He is not going to let us be the laughing stock of the world. We can back him up, or we can undermine what he is trying to do for our country. The State of the Union was an excellent speech and it gave me hope!
