A debate between "maverick" Sarah and General Petraeus would be entertaining.

That would strengthen the military, defense, industrial complex already controlling our economy and have Eisenhower as our most presient president. Already XE is being given billion dollar contracts in Afghanistan despite murders of civillians in Iraq . There has been no limit set on defense spending under Bush or Obama. Putting a military general in the presidents office would be an outright fascist takeover of the executive branch.

The general is a committed leader with high ideals and a devotion to duty. His military service is his life and he will continue doing this important job for the country.

Wishful thinking by frustrated Rebublicans are beating the bushes (no pun intended) for answers to the drought of their national popularity.

The bigger the Republican field, the better. Anyone up for watching Petraeus debate Palin?

In an e-mail exchange a while back, he told me that as far as his political ambitions were concerned, his answer was, "Shermanesque".

I agree with Steve from KS. There is a lot of wishful thinking by some in the Republican party for another Eisenhower to lead them out of the wildnerness. My feeling is that Gen. David Petraeus, already suspect by many Obamaites because of his "favored" status by former President George W. Bush, will continue to serve his country in his current role until replaced. It is hard for a sitting general to take on a sitting President. Just ask General's McArthur and Wesley Clark. My bet is on Mitt Romney who should have been the nominee in 2008.

There might be a lot of wishful thinking by a lot of people on this issue, but all they have to do is to look back at his comments on running for public office to know that he has no desires to do so. He has great respect for those that have chosen to go into public office, but has expressed on the record many, many times that it is not for him.

In fact, he has used the song by Country singer Lorie Morgan several times saying, "what part of no don't you understand."

I expect that for many, the idea of Gen Petraeus running for President is looking for someone with proven leadership. He has that, but what many have not taken into consideration, what his views on the many issues a President must deal with. They may or may not like his answers.

Again, wishful thinking by many.
