War Deaths, Healthcare Turmoil Hit Obama

Pollster John Zogby updates our weekly Obama Report Card with a grade on the president's performance. Zogby uses his polling, expert analysis, and interaction with major players to come up with a grade and some comments that capture how he sees the president's week ending.

John Zogby on Week 41:

"Not a good week for President Obama, hence a downgrade to C from C plus. So voters tell us they will support a public option, but just what is a public option? Democrats can be faulted for allowing Republicans to dominate the sound bite war on healthcare in the summer. But now that they have the nation's attention, what is emanating from various leaders and wings of the Democratic Party are a variety of definitions of a public option and lots of confusion. The president is not helping his own cause. Meanwhile, more than a dozen Americans die in Afghanistan, and the horrors of Iraq are back on the front page."

Report card: C

Last week: C+

The transition is well under way and more is about to occur after the 1st of the year. Commericial real estate foreclosures and the rescue of the goverment will once again add to the cause that big goverment is the answer. It's your choice freedom or bondage.
