Sorry, Washington wonks. Just because reality TV loves the District—with versions of MTV's The Real World and Bravo's Real Housewives franchises currently filming here—that doesn't mean a revival of hard-hitting policy-rich dramas à la The West Wing are next. "I think there's actually been a move away from doing controversial shows," says Neal Baer, executive producer for Law & Order SVU. "I think there has been a real change since shows like NYPD Blue and ER and West Wing." Studios now seem to frown on wonky, dramatic policy tussles. "I think that's because there's a fear that the audience might not like it," the producer says.
