Ex-Washington Post Editor Len Downie Jr. has joined with those urging a news bailout. His notion is to copy public radio's mix of gifts, tax dollars, and corporate contributions. "While I think too little of that money [National Public Radio takes in] goes to news now, some of it does, and I think there's a real potential there without in any way changing the relationship between the government and press," he says.
