It's impressive to hear all the nonsense about Obama being a fascist because of his health care agenda. Do these people even know that fascism means CORPORATE control of the government, a fact we see every day in the special interest legislation passed, the special interest opposition to health reform, etc.?

Obama made great strides in minimizing fascist (i.e. special interest)influence in his Administration by not accepting PAC money or money from lobbyists during his campaign. He has strict and I fear hard to enforce rules about lobbyists in his administration. The GOP, on the other hand, is all about fascist control and influence by allowing corporations to influence their positions even if counter to the itnerests of the people they are supposed to serve.

One can disagree with president Obama and democrats in Congress, but if you despise fascism (and I do), then at least ry to understand what this economic and political system actually means.

The Democratic party is doing a pretty good job of cloaking fascism except for the party-poopers like the Tea Partiers who see through everything. Darn, many of them have been reading history and know what fascism looks like and where it leads.

The Democratic party faithful need to work on better arguments (to convince hesitant people that fascism is fun and good)than to call people stupid and other clever names.

The only thing that will help the Dems to retain seats in 2010 is for them to show the country that they are capable of making the hard decisions like health care reform. If they think they can waffle on this one and win in 2010, they are kidding themselves. Use it or lose it!

I for one will not be voting for any democrates in 2010. I want these people out of office. WE are turning into a socialistic country.. and now they want to hurt us more with this horrible Health Care Plan of theirs. What they are doing to senior citizens is an outrage..they are taking away our good health care and making us look at a future that is not promising. Instead of helping seniors they are hurting us...I do not want to government telling me IF I CAN go to the hospital or doctor of my choice.. and telling me I to wait for an answer from their board to ok a test or operation....bye that time it could be too late.. HEY you people LOOK AT CANADA....they come here in order to get operations and needed tests...don't break what is working. I am also sick of seeing at Obamha's town hall meetings the ticket holding supporters clapping and smiling etc...and the people who will argue a point are locked outside,

Keep going: Glenn Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity and Lou Dobbs.. tell us the truth.....let the people really know what is going on....we can't even trust NBC or the newspapers anymore.....

Let's get back to a country our Constitution was run on.

Are you really that stupid!

Howard of CA 5:54PM August 16, 2009

Well, we could believe Inger of MD's insightful post, and understand that the government take over of 16% of our economy in the form of a massive experiment is inducing people to demonstrate their innate racism... (evidenced by...? I'm sure you were coming to that.)

OR

We could think that people are responding to broken campaign promises, a constant stream of lies, kabuki theater townhalls stuffed with campaign workers and supporters, Orwellian double speak, and a disasterous plan that will bankrupt our country.

...meh, it's a tough call.

Let this be a lesson to the American people. The founding fathers put checks and balances in the system to combat just what we've been seeing happen in the last 6 months. Never again should the American people so overwhelmingly put in power such extremist persons as Reid, Pelosi, Obama, etc...Never again should the American people place ideology over country. Never again should we have to hear from our PRESIDENT that he won't participate in bi-partisan talks about legislation simply because "I WON" If in 2010 and 2012 we can change the players in this government one of their first pieces of legislation should be to make certain that NO president ever again has the power to appoint "Tzars" that answer to no one and aren't elected. I've had issues with both Democrats and Republicans in the last 20 years and maybe 2012 is the time for a viable 3rd party. We need to get back to commonsense which is too uncommon these days.

neyney of TX 11:43AM August 14, 2009

It's about Obama trying to be bi-partisan w/ a group that represents 25% or less of the population. It's about Dems not wanting to admit that the voice of the Republican party is from the remaining racists who are not ignored but rather encouraged by punditry and media.

It's about not admitting that the reason the US is the only industrialized nation that does not provide healthcare for all of it's citizens is because it is the nation with the worse and most long standing history of racial discrimination, hatred, and bigotry. These people do not want a dime of "their" money going to the health and well being of a single black person, period. Things were fine when African Americans were forced to pay taxes to build schools, court houses and parks for the exclusive use of white persons. Even after the passage civil rights legislation in 1964, African Americans still were not given full rights. It was okay to force African Americans to labor for the benefit of white people, but no one should ever expect white people to pay anything for non white persons. That's the bottom line and everyone knows.

The US needs to take a hint from Germany, the only way to silence the voice of these hateful bigots is to marginalize them, not highlight their hate through non stop media coverage.

Inger of MD 10:07AM August 14, 2009

I say the Dems are lucky if they only lose 6. You have no idea the anger that is already brewing out there. And it's only August 2009.
