Not All Republicans Are Bad Guys in Boxer's Book

Now that her second novel has debuted, Sen. Barbara Boxer says she's grown as an author. For one thing, not all the Republicans in her book are bad guys. "I decided it was fair criticism," the California Democrat says of the too-blue-vs.-red reviews of her first novel, A Time to Run. In Blind Trust, there are three good Republicans, including the heroine's husband, a moderate Republican. "That's a dying breed," she notes. While Boxer may have painted some characters in shades of gray, she doesn't do any favors for her fictional right-wing media, painting the D.C. Times as a rumor mill and a conservative radio talk-show host as belligerent.
