The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 29% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8 (see trends).

Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter is feeling the heat of the health care debate. He now trails Republican Pat Toomey by double digits in an early look at the potential 2010 race. Two months ago, Specter led by double digits. Most Pennsylvania voters oppose the Congressional health care reform effort. Also, Specter’s lead is shrinking in his Democratic Primary match-up with Congressman Joe Sestak.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter.

Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That’s the lowest level of total approval yet recorded. The President’s ratings first fell below 50% just a few weeks ago on July 25. Fifty-two percent (52%) now disapprove.

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans disapprove along with 65% of those not affiliated with either party. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Democrats offer their approval. Most women (51%) offer their approval while most men (56%) disapprove. For more measures of the President's performance, see Obama By the Numbers and recent demographic highlights from the tracking polls.

Later today, Rasmussen Reports will release new data on which party voters trust when it comes to health care. Premium Members can get an advance look at the data.

Nationally, support for the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low. Just 42% favor the plan while 53% are opposed. Other data shows that 51% fear the federal government more than private insurance companies. Forty-one percent (41%) fear the insurance companies more. Overall, 32% favor a single-payer health care system for the U.S. while 57% are opposed."

Watch how fast Obama's poll numbers drop when he starts pushing "comprehensive immigration reform" a/k/a MASS AMNESTY for 12-20 million illegal aliens.

The pampered elites want amnesty, but not the American people --especially the millions of unemployed working class Americans whose jobs were stolen by illegals.

1. Doing a good job in Afganistan, I am starting to feel things are going to change. Time to leave Iraq, we can use the money for much better security tactics and systems.

2. Health Care, can it be a double hitter?, consider if medicare is offered to people starting at age 62. I believe many employees would opt for retirement if they had medicare. To reduce the cost to government, a slightly higher premium can be set until they reach 65/66. Think how many jobs might become available if this is offered.

3. Mexico, I am glad to see Obama taking a real interest in the drug situation and corruption in Mexico. This country should be a vital force to the US, since it is our neigbor. Mexico has to change, and only the people of Mexico can do that. Why is it taking so long, and why are the people not getting it right????

4. Bailouts, too bad we gave so much money to the underserving/undeserving. (Couldn't the banks refinance those subprimes to a fix, affordable rate, maybe 5%. At least they might have had a better chance of getting paid.) We should have spent it on better programs that create jobs, such as "Cash for Clunkers" in the auto industry. We could do that for appliances too. Double hitter, help with energy, create jobs.

5. Imports, we need strong rules/regulations governing imports. Such might include safety standards, product standards for consumer goods, including pet care products, and proper shipping practices. Maybe we can start a service in the US that will employ people to monitor this (maybe there is already a service, then let's hear more about it, and not wait for the problem to happen), or maybe we need to cut back on our imports.

6. Hillary, you are woman, you are strong. You have always been able to rise above issues, why couldn't you do that during your visit to Africa. Obama, did you make the right choice for your VP?

7. Biden, you there?? Stop the back-slapping, smiling, "how are you, Joe" stuff and become a V.P. Stand-by your President,he is intelliegent, caring, and deserves to be seen as a good president who stepped into one heck of a mess. Even go down in history as a "great" president, if things prove positive during his presidency.

Republicans and Democrats, show some real interest in thethe common good of all people, not just your constituency. If you are good, they will vote for you. Stop fighting, and resentment and destruction. Bring back the respectable politicans, repub and democrats. I am starting to feel left out of my own country.

Overall Rating for Obama, high, but stop the bailouts.

Obama’s attack on our free market economy began long before the current crisis. The following legal documents, news articles, and videos show his part in causing this crisis over the past fifteen years. Now he uses it as an excuse to do even more damage. To him, our free enterprise system is a giant merciless beast that he and his allies have succeeded in wounding. In a free market, your choices as a consumer, select against society’s losers, which he represents. This is why the Obamabots, having won, are still seething with hatred for their opponents. Having wounded the beast they are now closing in for the kill. The recovery of our free market economy is not their objective. They would rather replace it with something else. So their policies are only making matters measurably worse. They want revenge for the unfairness they perceive in the free market.

These legal documents show Barack Obama suing Citibank under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) from 1994 to 1998, where he and other lawyers got $950,000 in legal fees without finding any evidence of wrongdoing:

This was part of a legalized protection racket perpetrated on our nations banks, and part of a widespread systematic shakedown, described in detail in this article published in the year 2000: "The Trillion-Dollar Bank Shakedown That Bodes Ill for Cities":

http://www.city-journal.org/html/10_1_the_trillion_dollar.html

The New York Times reported on this in 2003, and explained what additional regulatory action the Bush administration tried to initiate to protect the banks, in "New Agency Proposed to Oversee Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae", only to be blocked by Democrats in congress:

Thomas Sowell summarized it all in his column, "Do Facts Matter?":

The Washington Post provides additional detail: ("Where Was Sen. Dodd? Playing the Blame Game On Fannie and Freddie"):

The Wall Street Journal provides additional detail: ("Blame Fannie Mae and Congress For the Credit Mess "):

This pattern of behavior must be stopped to protect the economic future of our country.

You begin by introducing yourself to us as crude and offensive (yawn), so we think you must be a Democrat.

Speak for yourself. While Obama voters were so enamored with the color of his skin, the rest of us were judging 'the content of his character' as MLK taught us, and we found it to be lacking. I did not vote until after I familiarized myself with his past activities related to the present economic crisis as detailied in my previous comments below.

Look who's talking. You showed up here wanting to write something to express your foul mood and couldn't even think of anything to add to the discussion. This article is about Obama's poll numbers, and you provided nothing of interest on that subject. You must be discouraged to see his support collapsing. Allow me to help:

Obama is not the king; he is only the president of a democratic republic. As citizens he must follow our orders or he will be fired in 2012. This is a "government of the people, by the people, [and] for the people"

Don't forget that.

Supporters of Obamacare are conspicuous by their absence at these town hall meetings. Obviously there are not nearly as many Obamacare supporters as he thought. He still hasn't detailed his health care plans, just as he did not detail his healthcare plans in the campaign. Therefore he cannot claim to have any kind of a mandate to do what he wants to do. When people see the only detailed plans in existence (those drawn up by congress), they show strong bi-partisan opposition to Obamacare. Obamacare was just a vague shapeless amorphous fog in the minds his followers. They were allowed to believe whatever they wanted to believe about it. When fantasy hit reality, they find that there is no one single plan, which a majority of Americans can support. The vast majority of us have decided not to take a chance that he might destroy what we've already got. We can all see how well his sub-prime mortgage thing worked out for us.

"Obama will keep sailing along and so will his accomplishments on our behalf."

Until he hits the brick wall like Bill Clinton hit with the crash and burn of Hillarycare. After the Republicans used that backlash to take control of the House and the Senate in 1994, Bill Clinton sounded just like Ronald Reagan at the State of the Union Address that followed in 1995. But he was a more experienced and adept politician. Obama will just morph into Jimmy Carter, and get fired four years after his election, after he is rendered powerless in the 2010 elections in Congress. Fortunately Democrats didn't elect a moderate. He might have been able to do something we don't like.
