This is great! By reading to students, Arne Duncan gets to see first hand how students respond to stories. I hope that these images will stick with him as he works with Education Funding. Too often, programs focus on building skills, which are important, but more important is developing the love of reading. There is no greater motivator than experiencing a story that transports you... whether it's to Hogwarts, or someplace independently magical.
When students are motivated by positive experiences, then they will continue to read, and nothing builds strong readers better than reading. Bravo Mr. Duncan!
