OH MY GOD!!!! How did Kate Mulgrew ever get her first acting job???? She is HORRIBLE!!!!!!! She thinks that she is so hot!! This is what makes her ao UGLY!!!!!!!!! SHe is NOT HOT....Besides that....she can not act worth a Damn!!! What a joke!!!

Okay, this comparison is made by a Democrat of a Democrat. I for one like Kate Mulgrew as an Actress. I think she can, like any American, express her opinions. I don't think much of Obama as a President, but as a man he seems to be perfectly human yes.

I for one feel like the characters in Star Trek can be compared to almost any body. The actors interpretations are the ones we stick with because they are the original interpretations, but anybody can see themselves through these characters. I like Voyager. I only have seen a few episodes of TNG and the Original Star Trek, but I have seen a lot of Voyager.

Needless to say... this comparison about Spock, Kirk, and Obama, is what the discussion is about so I will say this about it. In the words of Seven of Nine its completely irrelevant to the job that President Obama must do. Hard decisions or not, I'd rather Obama be tough then popular.

Wow, you can certainly tell the die hard rush listeners here. Sheesh, the woman was offering her opinion along the line of fictitious characters having a little fun. Some of you people really need to go have a drink and a shot of happiness to back it up. Get over yourselves. I always love the blowhards who sit back and critique people in leadership positions when they don't have to make the hard choices or calls themselves...like your obvious Svengali Mr. Limbaugh. You have the easy part...telling everyone else where they are going wrong. Such arrogance.

Excellent analogy Ms. Mulgrew and I always loved your interpretations and performances of Captain Janeway (for those of you going on about her being a horrible captain...she's playing a ROLE. There is no captain Janeway you dolts) and I hope that we see you again as the Tough captain in the future.

@Gary O'Brien: Here's the scary thing about your analogy -- the Kobayashi Maru was a game, a test, and a cheat in itself (according to Kirk, anyway). This is real life. I'm terrified of anyone who refuses to accept the possibility of losing when the stakes are so high. I'm terrified of someone willing to bend rules, cheat, etc. to win at real life, especially in the political realm. The rules in this country are there for a reason, and that's to protect us from people like Obama who are determined to give us what THEY think we need whether we like it or not.

Misogynist... Captain Janeway was an excellent character, a credit to Trek lore and damn long overdue... but yours is a typically boorish response and thus expected...

I for one enjoy and prefer intelligence over bravado...everytime, eg, OBAMA-Bush

Good analogy. I think Obama is like Kirk in that way.

Remember in "Wrath of Khan", when a (thin) Kirstie Alley (in Vulcan ears) marvels at Kirk and Spock's deception in their coded message, which fools Khan. Kirk says, "I don't like to lose."

I think Obama is gaming the scenario, doing things in a way no one's thought of. He certainly seems to not believe in the no-win version.

This is probably too inside Star-Trek, so here's some background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobayashi_Maru

Spock is a fictional character from outer space. There cannot be any comparison to Obama, except it may be said Leonard Nimoy would make a better president than Obama. This may be true.

Well, I'm offended that he's even compared to anything Star Trek, except maybe a Ferengi. Though it figures the most forgettable captain pipes up with her opinion. She was a terrible captain, he's a terrible president.

Anarcho-Capitalist of MN 2:23AM May 18, 2009

I think Kate Mulgrew is correct in saying that Pres.Obama is so unlike Spock; because he did more of what Capt.Kirk and Capt.Janeway would do in implimenting a very risky strategy and manipulating so that it works. I believe that President Obama does not believe in the no win scenario.

Lindley of NY 10:44PM May 17, 2009

Obama is not intelligent enough to be Spock. He just admitted that his defecit spending isn't sustainable. Too bad he didn't figure that out like the rest of us did before he racked up the 10 trillion in debt.
