Maybe it's Ford's refusal to take bailout money, or maybe the Obama gang just likes the company's hybrids, but team is a big fan of the car company. The proof: President Obama and spokesman Robert Gibbs drive Escape hybrids. And now, Ford tells Whispers, former Obama campaign manager and adviser David Plouffe is sitting nicely in a Fusion Hybrid.

Over the weekend and just in time for Earth Day, Plouffe took delivery of a black Fusion—41 mpg city and 36 mpg highwayat Delaware's Sheridan Ford, we heard on Sunday. Sheridan is in his hometown of Wilmington. Talk about a sales event. And Ford didn't let it pass. "It's a great time to buy a car, and we are thrilled the Plouffe family decided to purchase the Fusion Hybrid," says Said Deep, Ford's spokesman. "Americans want to feel good about the purchases they make, but they don't want to compromise on quality or performance. Ford gets this, and through our commitment to fuel efficiency, quality, innovation, and advanced technology, we will continue to lead the way in the drive to be green."
