Will Obama Raise Taxes?

I think the debt has been there since Regan and will never be eliminated. People say that Bush made all the debt, well maybe some yes but maybe if you look at the president before last (Clinton) there you will find the most debt. Bush had a war to pay for of course he's going to spend money to keep us safe. Clinton didn't have a war and he spent more than Bush. I'm no political guy but even this seems obvious to me. Obama will raise taxes, of course he's a democrat. He also wants to turn us into a socialist country. If the poor can't pay for themselves then they can't pay for it. Don't steal from the ones who have made something of themselves and give it to them. I think people should donate money to the poor because it's the right thing to do but to be told to give your money and how much should not be the governments call.

Folks, Washington is addicted to OUR money. THEY (Deocrats AND Republicans) spend more than they have year after year. Obama has just done this on an exponetial rate compared to ANY of his predicessors. It's just become business as usual.

I wouldn't mind carrying the TAX load if those "Rich People" in Washington would grow up and learn to BUDGET.

Why is the richest nation in the world 11.3 TRILLION in DEBT?

How long do you think we can continue that?

Time for REAL change, not the same ole Democratic Religion.

Tens of millions of people work in the public sector including everything from the entire military to school teachers. They are not working directly for "rich people".

Muser of NM 4:26PM April 18, 2009

There not any question the administration will have to increase taxes to partially cover the tremendous increase in commitments. The question is by how much? The state has already hit us with a large increase. The worse the employment becomes, the less revenue is collected. Where will it end?

In answer to Muser of NM. When did anybody ever work for a poor person?

Obama and the Democratic Party will tax the American people into oblivion. They approve a trillion dollars in new spending without the "real" input of the American people and we are going to have to pay for this for the next 30 years. Obama kept saying "We can't drill our way out of this mess" well guess what, we can't spend our way out either. I would have rather drilled. The only way the US is going to be able to pay for all of the bailouts and the funds given to left wing clubs like ACORN is by ruining the quality of life for the rest of the country. The other comments say we don't need any more billionaires, well guess what, without billionaires, there is no prosperity. If you can't make money, you can't provide jobs, you can't sell products to help the economy, you can't be an American. If the government limits the amount you can make then it becomes a new form of government, socialism, or communism, take your pick!!! Obama will ruin this country. He has lied over and over again, and he has just started. The way that he gets away with it is in the details. 95% of Americans will receive a tax break, yes they will, a whopping $7.00 in their paycheck, but what he doesn't tell you is that when he raises the taxes on business, they will pass that enormous cost on to the consumer. That $7.00 he saved you is going to cost you more in the end as you consume the goods you need to live. Obama is going to ruin this country, he has already started. If you believe him, you are a fool, if you trust him you are an idiot. You thought Bush was bad???? This cat has been in office less than 6 months and he has already created the largest deficit in the history of this country. His deficit is more that the first 100 years of this country's deficits combined. He is only going to spend more. Wake up!!!!!!! You’ve been had!!!!!!! If you want to side with him, you deserve what you get. He raised the amount of money that can be sent to Cuba by Cuban families here in the US, how about spending that money here!!!!!, he wants to give Mexico a billion dollars to combat drug trafficking, how about spending that money on a wall to keep the drugs and violence out of the US???. No he wants to give it to corrupt Mexican officials to spend as they want. That's a great idea. Continue to support him and you only enable him to freely take your money. Blood from a stone?????? Get ready to bleed. He is nothing more than a subversive hack. In 4 years watch everything he does, and mark my words, you will not be better off, you will only be broke and angry. You wanted change???? Check your pockets, see if you have any left.

When you run up your credit cards, or when you mortgage your property, who pays for it? You may not pay today, but who will pay it tomorrow?

That is the missed point of the Tax Day Tea Parties. Not a protest of taxes today, but a protest of the outrageous spending, borrowing more money to "fix" things now. Who will pay the bill? Democrats are correct, when they mention that Clinton left office, with a surplus. However, those surpluses were single year surpluses. It does not reflect the truth, of the national debt. We are facing $60 TRILLION dollars of debt owed by Americans. Every dollar of deficit spending, increases that debt. Every dollar of surplus reduces that debt.

People like to claim that without taxes our police, and firefighters, and roads and schools would not be funded. But these people are ignorant of where the funding of these institutions derives from. Most, if not all, comes from LOCAL property taxes. If only schools, police and fire protection were the recipients of tax dollars! Instead, every special interest imaginable lobbies, quite profitably, for your hard earned money. And your elected officials are only too happy to give it to them, after, of course, nice campaign contributions and trips to exotic destinations.

And increasingly, these legitimate functions of government, these noble uses of public funds, are cut and must compete for funding with nonsense such as entertainment, kickbacks, boondoggles, and other frivolities.

Please explain to me what the motivation it work hard and earn a good living. If the final goal is to be taxed to help people who can't or won't work hard enough to make it by. I have always been a hard working citizen and have made it my priority to earn a wage that I feel I deserve. I have put myself through school to get where I am, and pardon me, but I feel that if I so choose to donate my money to help someone that is my choice. However, I choose not always to do that, and personally I don't want my hard earned money helping someone out who can't or won't help themselves by doing something about it. Go Bill Gates, if you seem to be upset that he has led his company to millions of dollars, well then pardon me, but you should have thought of the idea of Microsoft first. Yes they are cutting jobs, but who isn't.... I don't see the problem with people making a lot of money, that's what you are suppose to get from hard work.

any tax increase on the higher earners is a trickle down TAX increase to the lower earning population. if you tax business like cigarettes and beer like many have recently suggested, they will put that in the price of there products that we all buy. plus the recent cigarette tax is tied to helping pay for social programs and to help push people to stop smoking. if less people are smoking, where is the money going to come from to pay for said programs. dumb dumb concepts. I am lower middle class and i can understand that this is wrong. if you lower taxes all around, the Employers have more money to help the lower and the lower have more money to spend. does it always happen, no. but it happens. If you do it the other way, it just gets pushed on the lower tax payers anyway.

If I have to pay a little more taxes next year so my fellow americans can have free healthcare, that is exactly why I voted for Obama. In fact the tax relief we all saw in our paychecks beginning April 1st is one of the best ways to boost the economy. Little by little and with steady precision we will see the restoration of the econimic growth of this nation, by way of the american worker.
