Thiis is the reason I love www.usnews.com. Insightful posts.

The pretentious tone of the PETA lady "open letter" to Pres. Obama about Bo, as well as the triteness of her grand pronouncements, are wholy grotesque (even without her organisation penchant to "help" animals by lethal means).

Cheers ...

I think you need to do your homework. Where you quote "PETA is proud to be a shelter of last resort where animals who have no place to go or who are unwanted or suffering are welcomed with love and open arms." Love and open arms my left foot. More like welcomed with a larger hypodermic needle full of death. Animal shelters around the country have saved more unwanted cats and dogs whereas PETA simply euthanizes them. Go to http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ and wake up.

We see the pain of unwanted dogs, cats and rabbits and an occassional pig, yes, here in Los Angeles.

We had great hope of a rescue dog for the White House which would have done for the homeless animal's plight what Mrs. Obamas's choice in clothes has done for J Crew!

Do hope that the lovely Bo will be neutered soon as it will encourage others, especially men, to do the same to their animals.

Luckily, I will see many families coming to the shelter tomorrow to get a furry companion to complete their household. This will only make our job a little harder than it could have been.

Hope this is his"forever" home. He looks like a handful and needs training with the people he will be living with.

Thanks

He is already neutered.

Is there any chance that the members of PETA could be neutered?

PETA,

Hunters care about animals more than you could imagine. Your activists do such great things as to release lobsters in fresh water ponds and release domesticated mink to the wild, both to almost certain death. Peta backed dog shelters have the highest "kill" rates among all shelter. PETA does not believe in coexistence. I love Obama's pure bread pup.

"We look forward to hearing that Bo will be getting neutered. This will set a fine example for the world to follow, and Bo will be the happier for it."

I'm quite sure that Bo will not be happier for it.

I understand the need to control overpopulation -- I've seen what can happen when there are too many stray dogs and cats in a place -- but I just don't see how any real animal lover, who really believes, as Peta does, that "they are like us in so many ways, except that they are in a different type of body and have a somewhat different culture" can take away their pets' reproductive capabilities, without a single moral qualm.
