The White House announcement of a nuclear treaty negotiated with Russia had a clear Garrett Diss. The negotiated Agreement cuts stocks of nuclear missiles by one-third with plenty of trust but verify ( Reagan term ) and restarts ( Bush jab ) US-Russia relationship to better cooperate in avoiding nukes getting into hands of terrorists, Iran and controlling North Korea. Brilliant politics for this reason

Hillary and Gates were up at the podium answering questions for at least 20 minutes. When Major Garrett (or whatever his name is) from FOX asked his question, Hillary called upon her Undersecretary to answer the question. She had just come back from Russia and was standing up front to the side but you could tell that she was prepared, no matter what the question (it had nothing to do with having just been in Russia and was of a general nature that should have been answered by Hillary) no matter what the question the plan was to hand off the FOX question to the Undersecretary. He looked like a fool who was essentially blocked access to the press conference.

Brilliant!

During that NBC special on the Obama White House, he referred to Angela Merkel as only "Merkel". Obviously, she should be at least addressed as "Chancellor Merkel". In other words, he has the crude and rude habit of calling people by their last names. It turned me off to the guy quite a bit for some reason.

I saw the exchange several times.

I know the KOS and other left-leaning sites are calling this a knockout on the part of Gibbs, but I saw it as a rather disjointed exchange. Gibbs seemed to be answering some other question being asked of him and Garrett didn't effectively pursue the original question, IMO.

Not even close to a knockout for either, but a very interesting question raised by Garrett.

Why does the White House think it is OK to use anyone's email address who sends them email at one point in time? On one occasion I did send an inquiry to them about their position on an issue. Got a polite and very fluffy response...and then the spam started coming.

Never happened after several inquiries sent the the Bush people.

At any rate, I am one of the millions of Americans who regularly receive spam from WhiteHouse.gov. I read the first 20 or 30, thinking there might be something new that could give me a better insight into what the Obama Administration was trying to do. No way. The emails have been the same old drivel we hear in the press releases coming out of 1600 PA.

I never asked for "updates" from the White House and have just unsubscribed from their mailing list.

Let's see who else they've shared my email address with...

He didn't yell the question and I feel that it was a great question. Our president was very quick to jump in to defend a man who was trying to break his country's constitution in an effort to extend his rule. He hammers Isreal about what actions they must take. Yet, citizens in Iran were being beaten and shot in the streets for protesting and he did not say a word for over a week (other than to say that he didn't want to intrude...) When he finally stepped up to (sort of) defend democracy, I think the question of what took so long is quite relevant.

Garret yelling out "what took so long?" this really isn't a question seeking information. It's stating an opinion and rather offensively. i think the President of the United States should be accorded as much respect and courtesy as anybody else. In any situation, yelling at someone like that is not professional and more like the actions of some punk.

This guy ought to have his press credectials revoked. I want professional journalists asking intelligent questions seeking answers that are intended to inform. NOt some jerk mouthing off at my president.

Garret yelling to the President of the U.S> "what took so long?"

What kind of a punk question is that. I listen to news conferences to get informed. I don't want my time wasted by some punk in the pit throwing wise-ass remarks like that. It wasn't a question it was the statement of an opinion and an ignorant one at that.

But Garrett's behavior is unprofessional at the very least and actually it's offensive in ANY situation - let alone speaking to the President.

HOw does this guy keep his press credentials. He should be barred from WH press conferences. If he isn't capable of behaving like an adult and a professional reporter with a mote of intelligence he should not be there.

I want people in there who will ask questions that are intended to get answers that inform the electorate.

I'd send Mr. Garrett to the Afganistan beat if I was his boss. That question was disrespectful and demeans the President. It's not a frat house, Major.

Garret's questions, that is. Or did you miss that?
