$13 in change is what you get....after a $760,000,000.00 scam-pain. Stop crying! You can vote him out in four years!

Larry, Sorry that you have lost your job and your home. I'll be nice. Unfortunately, this stimulus package won't get you a new job and shouldn't save you from losing your home either. Better tax credits to small business to hire would be the right thing to do and it would get you rehired. Easier access to capital for small business would also drive new jobs and expansion. 300 Million for energy efficient vehicles for federal employees won't get you hired. 300 million to small business in California could get you hired.

I don't know your mortgage situation. If you bought your home with a crazy mortgage, that you weren't going to be able to afford 5 years after you bought your home, then you should not have bought it. Just because you can't afford it now, should not mean that the government should bail you out of it. Take responsibility, sell it or walk away from you mistake go rent or move to a place you can afford. Get any job that is available out there. If that means working as a janitor until the economy comes back then so be it. You are your own master of destiny. Take your lumps, be happy your alive and do something to get yourself back on your feet.

Wasn't the stimulus package supposed to be targeted, timely, and temporary? To spend $1 trillion dollars (including interest), most of which is being used for welfare and the creation of bigger govt, is shameful and will cost us all dearly. Wake up people, and see what's really going on. CA is broke because its govt is too big, and not long from now the federal govt will be in the same boat. It's time for a revolution.

I'm an optician and a single mother of a 4 yr.old. I recieve NO child support and NO welfare. We survive on $167 a week from unemployment. I can make $13 last a week. I'm not kidding!

I am a 23 year old student and currently support myself by serving at a local dining facility. I don't get a pay check because I only $3.25 an hour and work 40 hours a week. All my money that I earn hourly goes to the government to pay taxes. So, will I ever see my $13 a month...NO...this is stupid. I thought the idea of a stimulus plan is to help put money back into the economy to stimulate it...well I obviously won't be able to participate President Obama because you aren't helping my situation or the millions of students trying to support themselves and get a better education. So thank you very much!! A great start to a great first year in office.

I am a special education teacher for a virtual charter and a divorced mother of three. This morning, I found out at the monthly staff meeting that the budget cuts will cost my family nine thousand dollars in income in the next six months. I took an hour to freak out, an hour to take a recovery nap, and started in on finding a Saturday teaching job and figuring out how to sell these damn candles that my friend has been trying to coerce me into for four years. Tonight, I am going to make an extra pot of coffee, review my spending habits, tighten down my budget, and figure out how I am going to be okay.

Does $13 dollars really change my situation, well...at least by the end of the month, I can pay for half of my cable bill. I need help, I got a situation, but I don't have time to fret.

What about the people who do not have a paycheck coming in, how are they going to get and extra 13.00 a week on their pay check if they don't have one in the first place.

If you make $200 a week, your salary just increased by 7%.

Sure its funny and provocative to mock all the dumb items you could by with $13 a week, but it really matters to low-income workers and those near poverty line. Heres a list of things it could buy:

3 pounds of ground beef

4 gallons of milk

5 dozen eggs

5 loaves of bread

12 pairs of socks

5 gallons of gasoline

And its much better than just welfare payments. Stop criticizing everything so harshly, especially if you are going to be so elitist about it.

What line of work are you in?

Mr. Helper of LA 5:02PM February 19, 2009

I guess I'm not one of the "fortunate" people..I'm gonna spare you the sob story but some of us have more to worry about other than our stock portfolios. Believe it or not, some of us don't have $13 in our bank account much less our pockets. AND I'd be more than happy to tell you what it feels like to lose your job, and gees..in a few days i'll let you know what it's like to lose your home!!! Just because you don't "need" the help you feel the need to degrade those of us who do. Just stay in your bubble LARRY of CA and pray that it doesn't get popped!
