—The California State Society hosts lunch and a fashion show at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

—EMILY's List hosts an inaugural luncheon celebration called "A Power to Change: a Celebration of the 2009 Election," at the Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Avenue NW. Cost: $150.

—The Every Child Matters Educational Fund hosts the Children's Ball at the Historical Society of Washington, 801 K Street NW. Waiting list.
