Bush's Christmas Present to Obama

By Paul Bedard, Washington Whispers.

When it comes to Christmas present suggestions for President Bush to give his successor, Barack Obama, Americans are in a somber mode, probably because of the economy. According to our latest Washington Whispers poll from Synovate-eNation, balancing the budget topped list of gift suggestions. Of course, that's impossible now with the Wall Street and Detroit bailouts, but this strongly suggests that Americans are both worried about the deficit and hopeful that Obama will have enough money to implement his agenda.

The Whispers Poll

With Christmas just around the corner, what would be a good gift for President Bush to give his successor, Barack Obama?

A balanced budget before Obama shows up 42%
An earlier departure to Texas than January 20 25%
Barney's dog house for the incoming first pup 21%
Turn the White House tennis court into a basketball court 12%

Source: The Synovate eNation Internet poll was conducted December 11-15 among 1,000 nationally representative households by global market research firm Synovate.
