Forget Ronald Reagan, Says GOP Senator

Ronald Regan may be dead but his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of conservatives. Reagan won the hearts of many democrats regardless of what these non-conservatives say, it wasn't gay marriage and abortion. The person who can rise up and speak with the same frankness as Ronald Regan in a way that touches ordinary everyday Americans will steamroll to victory!

Well, if he revealed himself, he would be charged with heresy and obstinacy as currently defined by the GOP. Question any aspect of Reagan or some jilted lady of Alaska, and you get a minority of people that will huff and puff you out of town.

Congratulations to the person willing to challenge the GOP instead of leaving it. Reagan's dead, we don't need someone from Alaska trying to channel him.

Reaganism is dead. Live with it and make sure a certain Alaskan stays a governor at best.

Reagan never ballanced a budget, was a big spender, racked up record deficits. Republican the last 8 years never balanced a budget, big spenders, and racked up record deficits. Reagan deregulated, and no regulation and greed came back to hurt us now. Reagan was a hawk, being a hawk got us Iraq. Reagan hated poor people, hate of poor people gave us Katrina.

Reagan was all hype, never did anything for this country, and remembering him in rose colored hindsight will be the death knell of the Republican party.

Want the suburbs, then stop OUTSOURCING our jobs overseas in the middle of a WAR. Free trade will make Republicans go the way of the Whigs.

The only truth revealed by the Senator's comments is that he is a coward.

Liberal commentators always enjoy telling conservatives what they need to do to win. Funny, but that advice almost always tells what McCain and Bush actually did to ensure Republican losses.

The main thing McCain and the Republican party did wrong was to stray from the core principles of conservatism. Bush trashed limited government by spending like a drunken sailor or a Democrat. McCain trashed border security and and pandered to the amnesty crowd. And global warming? Gagggggg!

What our country really needs to get back on track:

1. Term limits - Look where experience has taken us.

2. Limited government. Budget cuts to get spending under control.

3. Implement the FairTax (fairtax.org) - Get rid of the IRS and our hideous income tax system. No more of that transfer the wealth crap.

This forget Reagan thing is stupid. I don't get it. Reagan EMBODIED the Republican platform. Besides his personal charisma, he had IDEAS. How is it, these ideas are no longer valid for a conservative party??~~

It simply isn't true we need to forget Reagan. For me, it is not even possible!

If anything, we need to purge the Rinos and Ted Stevens types, speak our platform of ideas and get back to Reaganism, which is limited government equals freedom.

That "Senior Republican Senator" must have been Hagel. He's basically a democrat and I don't know why he even joined the Republican Party in the first place. John McCain's biggest mistake was that he tried to out-do Democrats in spending and givaways. Leave spending to the professionals, the Democrats. If Republicans get back to their core values of lower taxes, less spending, a balanced budget, and NO PORK, then they may have a chance. But being "Democratic Light" is not a way to get voters. People respond to success and results. If you prove that you are a better manager than the other guy (or gal), you'll win. If not, what reason would people have to change?

The liberals already HAVE a cabal with select businesses and amoral weathy people.

It isn't hard to find, once you know what you are looking for.

Con-Agra

Archer-Daniels

Not hard to find the others. Not at all. Funny how the Republican Party represents more of the people that hate them than their OWN party.

It's dead, Jim. The GOP is merely OLD now. Steele is a DC tool with no real ideas "on the ground" just rhetoric up in the air.

Better a Zombie Reagan than a dead dog.

Besides, Zombies are cool. We could use some cool cred right about now. They're slow, they eat brains for breakfast, so you know they're smart, and their message hasn't changed since the original, really.Hard to kill, too. You gotta be willing to take the fight right to a zombie because they don't scare. At all. When was the last time you saw a RNC member stand their ground? Don't think so.
