The USA is a Constitutional REPUBLIC. Goals of a Republic: Protection of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness - of the individual. A Republic protects Individual Freedoms. Example: Bill of Rights. A Democracy is majority rule. Important difference.
Americans do not elect the US President. Electors at the Electoral Collage do this Dec 10,2008. Electors are sworn to uphold the US Constitution: to elect a NATURAL BORN POTUS.

Q: Will the CIA support a President not natural born?
If the CIA serves at the pleasure of the President, and the President is there illegally, what does the CIA do? Where is it's loyalty? The US Constitution? Or the President?

Phil of CA, you and many others are really that stupid for asking such questions.
I do not know what you are trying to suggest of President-elect Obama.
I understand people can change at the helm of power, but your suggestions/perception is baseless.
People who want to run for public office do not just do so without anyone knowledge.
They have to file before a board of elections which would verify their papers for qualification. They have to sign petition and get signatures from their constituents.
I'm sure their attorney general would also do a background check on their candidacy + local FBI office.
Why do we have the FEC: Federal Election Committee? This agency is there to monitor the election process and campaign finance. Candidates have to submit papers to this agency seeking office for Federal elected office.
Even people selected for cabinet posts has be vetted and approve by congress.
I see you as a Michelle Bachmann like figure who is questioning someone patriotism.
How can someone who is a senator and has received some intelligence briefings in the senate and work on important committees related to nuclear weapon/intelligence be at his position in government without any scrutiny of the federal government.
How could they get there?
Some of you even question his Citizenship. How could that happen? A non citizen to get to one of the highest office in the land without anyone noticing it?
That in itself would be a blow to our democracy and national security.
If something like that were to happen who would have trust in our government.
Talking about conspiracy theory or paranoia. You are are either really stupid or you are delusional.

This was actually an open letter published as a press release. No leaks involved, although the media is wording it as though they got their hands on a top-secret memo after much digging. The letter is on the CIA's website.

Not at all. This is how the CIA has always spoken of the President and any other person the President designates as an intel consumer/customer. Moreover, the President-elect has always had regular briefings available as soon as the election results are clear. In 2000, CIA had to brief three sets of consumers (Clinton, Bush, and Gore) until results were finalized. Gore was already receiving some briefings as VP, so there wasn't as much duplication, but I imagine they had to expand from briefing Gore to briefing both him and his team.

As a side note it is good to know the CIA has finally got its act together in stopping all those pesky leaks they have had in the past. Now, they have employees which realize the good will generated by sharing with the world their inter-office communication such as who their clients are. I wonder what other memos are being send out from the CIA?
On the other hand, we all know the world is a much safer place now that Obama has been elected and the USA no longer has any enemies. That agency might be a good place to start cutting the budget, since the apparent lack of discipline is showing through.

Has the media been telling us mistruths about Obama.
Wouldn't you think the FBI,CIA,SECRET SERVICE,HOMELAND SECURITY,
do BACKGROUND SEARCHES on any Presidential canadate? Also his future cabinate choices?
I would really like to know from any of the above agencies if this is done?

Perhaps Gen. Hayden can stay true to his word in regard to the "Social Contract" he spoke of last year; when secrets are no longer secret, the U.S.G./Agency has a duty to release ALL documents. This very point was raised by a USS Liberty supporter at a Hayden speech in Chicago: the mass murder of U.S. sailors and the 40 year cover up must end. Additionally, it may buy Hayden some good will after the despicable domestic phone tap debacle.
This applies to Pres. Obama as well. Releasing all documents and addressing the USS Liberty's crew's demand for justice will earn him 'rockstar' status among those in the military. Dan (IL)
