Sarah Palin's Son Track Stars in Iraq

I have just read about Sarah and her being the Mother of a Soldier, how she attends EVERY deployment ceremony, etc. Why does she get so much attention on this? I am also a Proud Mom of a US Army Soldier", and frankly I do all of this too! Put it this way (and i'm not asking for recognition for this, it is what is right!) My son came home from Iraq in Dec.2009 after a year of deployment....first i was there in Ft. Hood when he deployed to Iraq, went to classes on what to do, ask,supporting your soldier, watching your soldier, everything, Ft.Hood actually gave me a one on one session because my flight came in late! But i was there, by myself as i wouldn't have missed it for the world!! Upon his return from Iraq 12/09, 1-12 Cav.,i promised my son when he returned from Iraq i would be there and nothing would stop me! Again, alone i did it, but you see Sarah has contacts, she will get the exact time of when our soldiers will return, they do not disclose this info due to security reasons which i totally understand! The only thing was is that,they would not even tell me an approx WEEK that he would be returning, nor a possible 2 week Time frame, so not to miss him, and of course he was unable to tell me also.Dealing with this was extremely stressful as I was not going to break my promise and it means the world to a soldier to have their family present when they return, especially the single soldier as they don't have a wife or significate other to be there, it was just me! I waited "5 LONG WEEKS" for my Son to return....you get a call 18 hours in advance to let you know your soldier is in the air! Well that is the best feeling in the world! Unfortunately, it can also be a sad time, when they come home without all their battlebuddies they left with, and this really hits them extremely hard, now they are back in the US, and these certain people whom my son was very close too, did not make it back..I can't imagine what and how these families felt, you can be there for them but when you get the question "Why?Why did MY SON NOT COME HOME AND EVERYONE DID?" OMG, your heart hurts for them so badly, its undescribable. So Miss Sarah, you don't do anything different then any other parent of a Combat Soldier. My Son lost 9 in his Unit, came back to find out about the shooting in Ft.Hood,then said "You know Ma, It's really disturbing when you fight in a War, you don't sleep, eat, bath, anything that we are so lucky everyday to do."He said, we lost MORE SOLDIERS AT OUR OWN HOME BASE THEN WE DID THE WHOLE YEAR FIGHTING IN IRAQ, WHY?SECURITY SUCKED THAT WAS FOR SURE AND WHEN THEY CAME OUT WTH ALL OF THIS GUYS FILE, THE SECRET SERVICE SHLD HAVE BEEN MORE AWARE AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED"!SO NOT ONLY DID ALL THESE SOLDIERS IN THE 1-12 CAV.,HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEIR LOSSES IN IRAQ BUT ALSO DEAL WITH THE LOSSES OF WHAT HAPPENED ON THE BASE!! ONE MORE THING, FT.HOOD, IS THE HIGHEST DEPLOYING BASE IN THE WORLD!! DO YOU KNOW THAT THEY HiRED OUT? (THIS IS PART 1 OF 2)

Dear Steve:
Envy is so evil and it has reared up its ugly head. So, Steve, get rid of it. It just doesn't make you look very good. If you like, I'm sure you can join Track and any service you choose if you can pass the entrance exam to get into the service. There is the Navy, Army, Airforce etc. Be a Marine so you can say "Semper Fi." Take one and run with it. Kids will be kids. I had a high school senior put skumk oil in a waste paper can. He wore rubber gloves of course. The teachers were looking for the skunk all day long. Golly gee, Steve, they should have caLled me. I bought the stuff and the gloves and he never got caught. He is now 47 and we still laugh about it. It is probably against some law to aide and abet a high school senior, so I am guilty. And to think that same kid put himself through College. Yep! So, put your energy into going to School. After all, getting college loans is in Obama's 13 trillion dollar stimulus bill. Get that free money and be free. Knowledge is power, Steve. And if you had a bit more knowlege, perhaps you would write something that was interesting instead of a child saying, "Na nana na na duh. Don't you step on my property." LOL

i think that it is great that you gave this great american the opportunity to avoid jail time for vandalising school buses by serving in iraq. if only more criminals were given this opportunity the country would indeed be a better place. perhaps he will find himself serving with alaska senator ted stevens or his mother if any one of the myriad investigations into her abuse of power come to fruition.

We are grateful for your service, Track Palin.
It is shame your mother couldnt carry herself with the same dignity as you do. Heaven forbid if she ever gets into higher office at the White House or close to the White House. You will probably be out of service (she will make sure that happens for sure) but she will send more young lifes to be wasted.

The wars which the US have been fighting fot the past 50+ years are wars which fo rht emost part could be settled in a different manner.
1. We choose the wrong person to support
2. No understanding of the culture, people and or history of other countries.
3. "The war on terror", will not be won at the end of a rifle.
4. The generals fighting should have thought long time ago, to implement a plan to set the Sunnis on ther side in Iraq.
5. The US could have walk away from Iraq after the fall of Saddam and his sons and turn the power over to the militiary and Ba'ath Party. Now, we are fighting the war over again.
6. Paul Bremmer (remember him!)is fully responsible for the situation we now find ourselves in Iraq.
7. If there is another conflict, we will not have another country to support us?
8. It cannot be, You are with us or against us". It does not work.
9. We were not prepared for Iraq.
10. We started the war in Iraq and we failed our troops by not having them prepared.
11. We do not know how to win the peace.
12. And, yes, the, "War" in Iraq is just beginning.
13. We cannot fight our way to solve every situation.
14. Yes, we have a military of excellent men and women, we are using them incorrectly.

Though, I am not a Sarah Palin fan, I wish her son the very best and return home with his entire unit safely.
I once served in war for 2 1/2 years and it is not fun. Further, I lived in the Middle East many years ago, and that is also no fun.
