ursula of ny. where has your head been buried? Look up the fannie/freddie, lehman brothers, goldman/sachs. READ who the top earners were. They were all democrats. If you READ and not look for blame, you will also see that ACORN, Barack's baby is a HUGE reason we are in the situation we are in. Read about ACORN and tell me how you would feel if you were THREATENED IN YOUR DRIVEWAY OF YOUR OWN HOME by some moron telling you to approve these loans or you will never be able to merge (if necessary). They were a group of COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS who were TAUGHT BY BARRY OBAMA HOW TO INTIMIDATE PEOPLE. ALL OF OUR POLITICIANS ARE DIRTY> Want a change, VOTE ALL OF THEM OUT! but please do not blame Bush and all republicans for the dirty acts of all. oh, you're from new york........explains a lot!

now that the senate has voted yes, it will be interesting to see what happens either today or tomorrow in the house. Some of the nonsense written into the new bill is embarassing. How do we as Americans justify our dumbing-down? The whole point of the bail out was to protect the working man and womans retirement accounts, bank accounts, protect the small business person. Instead of writing out spending, we added more with the wooden arrows, rum and other nonsense. Hopefully a really wowing independent or other throws his or her hat into the election pool. The gene pool in dem and republic is shallow!

The Democrats are not the ones who created this mess. It's the Republicans, namely the neo-cons Bush, Cheney et al, who blocked all oversight and regulation of banking and investment transactions. After eight years in office, most of which time the Republicans had a majority and were able to pass or block legislation at will, it hardly seems fair, nor does it make sense to blame Democrats. This is Reagan "trickle down economics" in action. If ou think the bailout stinks, just wait to see how much worse things will become without it. Think 1929, think depression. Too young to remember it? Look it up.We're not saving Wall Streeet with this bailout, we'll be saving middle America while it still has a pulse.

If the Democrats want the bail out so bad they already have the votes to get it without the Republicans. They have the majority in both house and senate. Let them take the resposibility for the mess they made and quit pinning it on the Republicans. This is all politics. The "Crisis" is in the media. The politics are to make it look as bad as it can be so the white house will change hands and the government will own our homes, our banks, and our "freedoms". People need to wake up and realize that this is about more than the election, it is the heart and soul of the constitution of the United States that is at at risk.

How about giving everyone enough to pay off their mortgages, then the markets will get their money! Its simple and everybody wins. Oh and while they're at it might as well pay off all our credit cards too.

A way better plan than lining the elites of Wall Streets already bulging pockets!!

When I first heard Bush and Paulson urging support for this bail-out, it had the feel and trappings of Iraq all over again. Fear tactics were used then and I believe the same is happening now. Bush lied to us, without remorse, so what’s to stop him now. He has demonstrated where his loyalties lie, and it is not with us. He has helped to line the pockets of his "friends" without regard for us. Oversight was stripped from these mega institutions and greed has run rampant at the top. These kinds of people are a different breed and would walk on almost anybody to get what they want. My mom always told me “Once a liar, always a liar.” Therefore I find it impossible to believe anything coming out of the mouths of Bush and company.

When John McCain introduced the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, weren't the Republicans in control of the White House, Senate, and the House of Representatives? If this bill was so good why couldn't Mr. McCains own party who was in control get it pushed through? Talk about Nancy Pelosi and her thieves, weren't Henry Paulson and Ben Bernacke appointed by President Bush? How do you tell who the thieves are?

I sold all my assets and took a job in Asia. It appears it was the best dec1sion of my life. I closed out my 401k at my work and moved it into CD's. The money Market account was also converted to CD's and my retirement goes into the local samll town bank. Let those over spending stock market cats live like the rest of us. I'm ready I don't want bailed out. I sure don't want the stock market bailed out. I think most Americans can make their own decisions without Washinton.

I don't believe anyone is to blame for the failure of the bailout and I agree with the others that the failure was a win for the people and those that voted it down must be commended for listening to the people.

I will be watching the senate vote very closely on Wednesday night.

Talking to an old banker yesterday I discovered that most of this "Crisis" scenario has been the result of traders performing heretofore impossible manipulations to previously unavailable types of instruments of credit. I would call it selling insurance to each other just in case they ended up short in the outcome of unsupervised Ponzi scheme. The banker said these guys had no idea what it was they were trading and no idea what the final outcome would be.. credit derivatives???? Just a way to get up a lot of quick bucks, then duck and run, leaving a bunch of stupid broke people standing around wondering who picked their pockets. 337 people at AIG in their credit division in London tanked their whole company... 116,000 people who'd be working for someone else unless we "loaned' them 85 billion/.. It gets worse......
