Obama and McCain: Drinkers in the Oval Office

It is about time. If soberism does this to our country, maybe a little relaxation will help "the deciders" really lead with wiser decisions for the benefit of the most.

We do need to think people first instead of Money first.

Obama may have a beer but his ethic is framed in pot during the Viet Nam War Resistence like the rest of his generation. McKain's addiction to vodka is alocholism and his ethic was formed when the Viet Nam War was foisted on us by a bunch of barroom brawlers and consistent with his present ethic: It's OK to kill people to make a point.

I think the White House and every house should stay hard-liquor dry; wine and beer are different.

it seems to me that our better presidents were drinkers. i say ther is nothing like a drink.

Many have said Bush was a major cokehead for years in addition to hard drinking.

some of the decisions made by our present president would make one think he was drunk all the time. let's hope obama or mccain keep it in moderation. some quick decisions have to be made, and if mc cain is full of vodka, i'm not sure he would make the right one and be smart enough not to make any, until he sobers up. but GOD bless us all and hope one of the two is better than the last one.

peace and love, tom

The evangelical right is blood thirsty. They never see a war that they don’t like. They will vote for McCain who is an admitted serial adulterer. I haven’t heard them condemn the pregnancy of unmarried, 17 year old Bristol Palin.

How they distort the Christian message! Jesus was a peace maker and cautioned repeatedly about the sins of fornication and adultery.

And the “faith”based initiative--giving our taxes to preachers--isn’t that unconstitutional?

Made famous by Bob Hope in frequent references as part of his jokes routine. I visited there while stationed at Camp San Luis Obispo during the Korean Police Action. I found it every bit as nice as Avila where I lived off post for a time.

But on the subject, my reading of GWB's history is that he was quite the playboy in every sense of the word including excessive drinking until his wife cracked down on him.

So I'm not at all sure about the accuracy of the term "teetotaling".

Who knows, maybe Bush might have made better decisions with a glass of wine or two. Its obvious he doesn't do too well sober.
