ST. PAUL—Hurricane Gustav has put a damper on the Republican National Convention here in the Twin Cities, but there are still some signs of the event around town. Me and my trusty Sony Cyber-shot found a few examples. All around the downtown area there are signs on street lights heralding the convention; MSNBC has set up shop down the road from the Xcel Center; the public radio building here runs a 24-hour news ticker (here headlining President Bush and Vice President Cheney's decision to skip the opening of the convention); and even in the fab Mall of America, there is a place for us hard-working reporters to take a break and grab a snack—or get a ticket for the roller coaster.
