GOP Angered By "Elitist" Attacks On Sarah Palin

ST. PAUL—Liberal attacks on GOP running mate Sarah Palin are drawing sneers and slaps from Republican leaders, who charge that "Washington elitists" don't like that Sen. John McCain didn't pick one of their own. Leading the assault on the critics of the Alaska governor is House Minority Leader John Boehner. During a chat with reporters yesterday, he repeatedly took swipes at her Democratic attackers, especially those who think she's too inexperienced. "It's this elitist attitude that they portray that 'My God if you aren't a Washington insider you can't possibly know anything about what it's going to take to be president.' I just think it is elitist," says Boehner. "This lady, she's a strong woman who has built a career on her own and is very, very capable and has more executive experience than Senator Obama or Senator Biden, or both of them put together. And to suggest that she is not qualified or [is] inexperienced—what does it say about Senator Obama who three-and-a-half years ago was a state senator in Illinois?" Democrats have said that in picking the new governor McCain has forfeited the experience edge over rookie Senator Obama. But Boehner doesn't agree. He argues that Palin, as a former small town mayor and governor, has to make significant decisions everyday while senators don't. "Executives have to make decisions," he says. As for Washington lawmakers, he adds, "there are no consequences beyond your own vote." Like most of the Republicans at the convention here, Boehner is excited about the Palin choice, saying that it reinforces McCain's reform message and gives the presidential candidate a friendly partner in the race. Palin, says Boehner, is "a perfect compliment" to the GOP ticket leader. "Clearly John McCain has hired someone like himself."

Its funny how the arguement has become Palin vs Obama rather than McCain vs Obama. I think that as a citizen of this country you should be focusing on how these candidates will manage this country. I am not a political guru nor do I understand everything yet, but from the time I have been paying attention up til now I do not want Barack in office. I don't want the government to tell me what to do with my money and I certainly do not want to pay for people who choose not to work for themselves. I have seen way too many people take advantage of government programs and never get out of their situtation because they know that as long as they stay in that situation they will keep getting government money. I believe in government help, I don't believe in government support. When you are going through difficulties and you ask the government for help I have no problem. When you choose to live off the government, I have a problem. I believe we should all pay our share to the government, after all, we are all getting protection from this same government. The idea that those who make more money pay more I believe is unfair. This country has some of the most generous people in the world. Usually the people who donate the most money to charities are those who make over 250k. they give thousands of dollars to charity and good deeds, now you are taking that money away by raising their taxes for people who are unwilling to work for their money. I don't make over 250k, and trust me when I say that I would not mind getting more money back in my taxes, but not off of the backs of the hard working successful people. I want my money back not someone elses. If that successful person chooses to lend/or gift that money to someone in need, it should be his choice not law.

To say Sarah Palin has no experience is to ignore the obvious. From Acorns mighty Oak trees grow. Every politician with the exception of Barack Obama spends time in menial political positions before moving on to the big time. This nation was founded on town hall meetings with input from the citizens of small town America. For everyone except Barack Obama there’s a learning process that starts in local school rooms and moves on up the ladder of experience to the Oval office. Sarah Palin has 14 years of moving up that ladder she’s where she should be.

I read this article carefully but saw nothing specific about Democratic attacks on Palin. Obama and Biden question her credentials, as should we all. But they both said in no uncertain terms, "Hands off" on talking about her personal life. Name one person in the Dem hierarchy who has made a personal attack on Palin. Can you?
