GOP Angered By "Elitist" Attacks On Sarah Palin

Its funny how the arguement has become Palin vs Obama rather than McCain vs Obama. I think that as a citizen of this country you should be focusing on how these candidates will manage this country. I am not a political guru nor do I understand everything yet, but from the time I have been paying attention up til now I do not want Barack in office. I don't want the government to tell me what to do with my money and I certainly do not want to pay for people who choose not to work for themselves. I have seen way too many people take advantage of government programs and never get out of their situtation because they know that as long as they stay in that situation they will keep getting government money. I believe in government help, I don't believe in government support. When you are going through difficulties and you ask the government for help I have no problem. When you choose to live off the government, I have a problem. I believe we should all pay our share to the government, after all, we are all getting protection from this same government. The idea that those who make more money pay more I believe is unfair. This country has some of the most generous people in the world. Usually the people who donate the most money to charities are those who make over 250k. they give thousands of dollars to charity and good deeds, now you are taking that money away by raising their taxes for people who are unwilling to work for their money. I don't make over 250k, and trust me when I say that I would not mind getting more money back in my taxes, but not off of the backs of the hard working successful people. I want my money back not someone elses. If that successful person chooses to lend/or gift that money to someone in need, it should be his choice not law.

To say Sarah Palin has no experience is to ignore the obvious. From Acorns mighty Oak trees grow. Every politician with the exception of Barack Obama spends time in menial political positions before moving on to the big time. This nation was founded on town hall meetings with input from the citizens of small town America. For everyone except Barack Obama there’s a learning process that starts in local school rooms and moves on up the ladder of experience to the Oval office. Sarah Palin has 14 years of moving up that ladder she’s where she should be.

I read this article carefully but saw nothing specific about Democratic attacks on Palin. Obama and Biden question her credentials, as should we all. But they both said in no uncertain terms, "Hands off" on talking about her personal life. Name one person in the Dem hierarchy who has made a personal attack on Palin. Can you?

I think that its great to see someone who hasnt been in Washington for the last 30years. If the people who have the experiance did such a great job well we would be in a much better place. So a fresh face is nice to see. She is a real person and thats what freaks you people out. The greatest part about being human is we learn and so can she give the woman a chance...

in 1898, there was a relatively unknown governor of NY who upon getting elected took on the establishment and corruption within his own party. The party leaders, wanting to get rid of him, persuaded the current presidential nominee to pick the governor to be his VP running mate. In a twist of irony, the two were elected that Nov. The following Sept, the president was shot and died within a week, elevating this VP unknown to the presidency and he performed quite admirably for two terms. His name???? Theodore Roosevelt....'nuff said

I was in Alaska last spring when I first heard of Sarah Palin. The people of Alaska absolutely love her. She truly cares about people and has done much to help the citizens of Alaska. I know she can do the same as Vice-President. If you really are interested in knowing how she cleaned up the corrupt system of Alaska read her biography Sarah: How a Small Town Girl Turned the Political Establishment on Its Ear by Kaylene Johnson.

I must reiterate what others have pointed out in regard to her experience: She has MORE executive experience than the current senator running for the presidency who has absolutely none.

Sarah also has first rate knowledge of the environment and the issue of off shore drilling. As one Alaskan resident said to me last year, they are tired of environmentalists in New York who have never been to Alaska trying to dictate political policy on the envirnoment for the area in which they live. Sarah's knowledge is exactly what we need in this area.

If you truly want CHANGE in Washington, this woman is part of a ticket that will provide just that.

John McCain is not competent to lead the nation. That's the message I hear in his choice of running mate. Obama showed true leadership qualities in selecting someone who augments his weaknesses and who is qualified, should the worst happen, to BE President of the United States. McCain's choice was purely political and personal, leaving the country potentially in the hands of a novice from nowhere who knows nothing about the world outside of Alaska (which is not exactly a cosmopolitan state in the first place). His choice fulfilled a purely political need, but failed to account for the needs of the country - which is a direct contradiction of what his 'country first' message has been.

The choice of running mate is the first real and binding decision a presidential candidate makes. To me, it's the first, best indication of how a candidate will approach their job. Obama's choice was politically expedient, yes, but it showed responsibility toward the needs of the country. McCain's was equally politically expedient, but showed no responsibility whatsoever toward the needs of the country - especially given the fact that he stands a better than normal chance of NOT completing his term as President due to his history of health issues alone. His age is another factor, albeit a lesser one.

Because of this, I've decided that Obama is the best choice for President, because he at least in part, takes into account the seriousness of the position to which he aspires. McCain is doing everything he can to get elected at the expense of the country - and we don't need ANOTHER President like that again.

How can the REpublicans that are supporting someone worth more than 100 million dollars call anyone elitist. It is right wing spin when they have nothing to run on.

Harry Truman was famously inexperienced when he took over the Presidency following FDR's death. He failed at most of his occupations following his stint in the Army during WWI. That said, Truman was able to get elected to the US Senate and had some national experience.

As much as I like to see a woman on a major political ticket, I'm thinking Gov. Palin isn't the right woman. She is woefully inexperienced and an obvious political pawn in McCain's reach for the White House.

There just doesn't seem to be much to recommend Ms. Palin to the voters this November.

You claim to be a Air Force commander in Vietnam and I honor your service. But you are very ill informed on the way the military works. I am enclosing a direct copy of the transcript of her speech. It came from the NPR website. Along the way, Todd and I have shared many blessings, and four out of five of them are here with us today. Our oldest son, Track, though, he'll be following the presidential campaign from afar. On Sept. 11 of last year, our son enlisted in the United States Army. Track now serves in an infantry brigade. And on Sept. 11, Track will deploy to Iraq in the service of his country. And Todd and I are so proud of him and of all the fine men and women serving the country in uniform.

I do not believe you see her son's unit beside infantry and as many military families can tell you. You get a window of leave on the exact date. I have two son's on active duty for the United States Army and both are Cav Scouts. My son's both have deployment areas before they deploy. I am sure that as a parent of a military member you know that deployment list can be found of the internet and all branches of the military times.
