It really didn't work for former President George H.W. Bush in 1992, but that isn't stopping the McCain campaign from slapping down the media for its fawning coverage of Sen. Barack Obama's overseas trip. Today, the campaign had a little fun, asking supporters to vote for the best love song the media could sing to the Democrat. Bush tried a similar trick in his losing bid to Bill Clinton. I recall being on a trip to Grand Rapids, Mich., near the end of that campaign where supporters were given a red hat that read: Annoy the Media Re-elect Bush. I think I traded a Browning hat for one, and I still have it as one of many campaign souvenirs.
