you can donate once in the primary season and once in the election. I believe the limit is 2300 dollars.

AMAZING; THAT ADMITTEDLY OBAMA HAS ALREADY RECEIVED $200,000,000.00 FROM OUT OF THE COUNTRY. PRIMARILY FROM CHINA, SAUDI ARABIA AND IRAN; CONSIDERING THE MAX ALLOWED THAT WOULD MEAN THAT THEY RECEIVED 3 MILLION FOREIGN CONTRIBUTIONS. THIS IS A FIRST IN AMERICAN HISTORY. VERY SUSPECT !!! BUT NICE TO SEE AMERICANS IN LINE WITH THERE FOREIGN BROTHERS.

The link below is details the amount of money Obama has accepted from PACs associated with major corporations...This is the money given to him by executives of these companies...it is the same thing as accepting money from lobbyists, except no middlemen. He's not the person he's made out to be.

McCain has accepted less than half that amount.

You can contribute $2300 to the primary and $2300 in the general, so if you wanted to contribute another $2300 to his campaign you could, but $4600 for an individual is the limit

Obama did not break a pledge.

McCain refused to commit to public financing until..

AFTER Obama announced that he would forego public financing.

Obama previously announced that he would not accept funding

from lobbyist and pacs.

McCain accepts lobbyist money which is why helped lobbyist

reprensenting France win a $40 billion dollar defense contract instead of

Boeing.

McCain is in trouble with the Federal Election Committe for

accepting public and private money.

I disagree with Obama saying he will aggressively pursue public financing and then just spring something like this out of the blue. True, the system may be broken, but his actions are difficult to defend.

However, I don't think that makes him just a typical politician. Overall, he makes a point not to run the kind of (to borrow his words) offensive politics that the other candidates did and do. At the same time, the man is not a saint or a pushover. Entering into promises that you can't keep isn't right, but staying in them when your opponent is running the system is dumb.

The shiny finish of Obama is wearing off rather quickly. How he finances his campaign is strictly up to him, but his position changes -- to wit, Rev Wright, the Catholic priest, his former 'loan arranger', his impression of his grandmother, and most recently, his change of heart on campaign financing -- causes one to stop and think if Rev Wright may have been right when he said that 'Obama is just a politician!'

For one who had so much promise six months ago, the more you get to know him, them more he resembles a Southside Chicago politician.....a silvered tongued wizard!

The writer who stated that Obama did NOT promise to use public financing does not know what (s)he is talking about. He SIGNED a document last year that he WOULD use public financing if his opponent did so. It is in writing!! He has only in the past few days when caught in this flip-flop starting talking about an "agreement". He has a signed agreement - but that never matters to dems. Si, sir or madam, get your facts straight before posting. You cannot denfend the indefensable.
