Luke,

My heart breaks and yet at the same time see so much promise for you. Your ability to stand through all that you had to endure whether it was through a public and private memorial, the death and loss of your father, or the national interviews...you did it like the man your father dreamed you would be. May God always bless you and hold you in the palm of His Hand. Please know that not only is the Catholic Church praying for you and your family, but also is all the world. You not only made your father proud, but you did those whom your father so often desired to touch. Always remember you are such a special person!

I was only a viewer but every Sunday morning I was a avid Meet the Press fan of Tim Russert. I never before gave much thought to his outstanding talent and presence before or more to the point did not realize that I took them for granted. It was a shock for me to go to work one day and have a pop-up appear on my computer screen giving details about his sudden and unexpected death. It brought tears to my eyes. And that's when I realized how very much of an influence that it had made in my and others lives. He was a great man! I will never forget him........

Are you still harping on this?

Luke was poised in reading his father's eulogy and he likes to talk about sports on satellite radio. By the way, if you even listen to his non-scripted commentary about sports, he is a little less polished than when reading a scripted eulogy that perhaps was written for him. I'm just guessing that maybe his mom or one of his Dad's friends had a hand in the eulogy.

Nothing, nothing at all, in his background, except his genes, at all qualifies him to be moderator of Meet the Press. This is a position for a seasoned political journalist. It is not an entry level position for a kid right out of college, even his father was Tim Russert. To suggest otherwise is an insult to Tim, to Meet the Press, and to journalism.

And, by the way, the sports talk show is called 60/20 Sports, not 60/40 sports. Perhaps you can figure out why.

Luke my heart goes out to you, your Mom, Big Russ and the rest of the Russert family. I read your dad's first book shortly after my Dad died. It was such a great tribute to fathers. I always meant to write your Dad and let him know how much I enjoyed his book. Losing your Dad is not easy at any age, but it is especially tough at your young age. I am sure he has been looking down on you this past week and is feeling so proud of you for your strength and poise. It will get harder, when all the tributes are over and life goes on. Even though it has been 6 yrs since my father died I remember the rush of emotion that would hit me like a sucker punch at the strangest times for months after he died. Like you, I was blessed with a great Dad. The biggest tribute that we give to our dads is being the best fathers we can be. As the weeks and months go by I found the intensity of those waves of emotion missing my dad lessenend but I don't think they ever go away nor should they. The stangest things on a daily basis will remind you of him and remind you of what advice he would give or how he would have enjoyed something. I hope the coming weeks quiet down for you and give you a chance to mourn your loss without feeling pressure to carry on in the public eye. You should follow your dreams and interests without feeling any pressure to "take over" for you Dad. We will all remember him with you and we are better off as a nation and individuals for all that he gave us. Great political analysis, but far more important in my opinion how he set such a great example of how to be a great son and a great father. I wish you luck in all you do. Go get em Luke.

I hope the prducers of MTP are looking at this. What a credit to his parents this young man is. He should, at the very least, be doing MTP until a permanent host is found. And at best become the host.
